at the bow. The MCM Push Knee shall provide a crumple zone for collision and provide <br /> additional buoyancy for rough water conditions. The push knees shall be capable of making <br /> contact with low floating docks and extend just above the foredeck. <br /> 3.0.9 Bulkheads shall be 5083 marine aluminum alloy. Structural shapes shall be 6061 <br /> marine aluminum alloys. All construction shall be welded. <br /> 3.0.10 A watertight collision bulkhead shall be provided between the stem and the <br /> cabin/pilothouse <br /> 3.0.11 Watertight penetrations of watertight bulkheads for piping and cabling shall be <br /> placed as high and near the centerline of the boat as possible. No penetrations shall be made <br /> below the level of the deck plates of below the level of the full load waterline of the boat. <br /> 3.0.12 Two anchors with anchor lockers shall be provided in the bow and stern. The anchor <br /> with 10 ft of galvanized chain and appropriate size and length of line (130ft)to anchor in 35 <br /> feet of water. The bitter end of the anchor line shall be secured to an eye fitting welded to the <br /> structure within the compartment. A water tight hatch shall provide access to the <br /> compartment. The compartment shall include drains. <br /> 3.0.13 Three (3) inch rubber fendering around the perimeter of the deck with additional three <br /> (3) portable fenders. <br /> 3.0.14 There shall be non skid decking material used throughout. <br /> 3.0.15 There shall be safety railings with harness brackets located fore, mid ship and aft with <br /> integrated holders for the portable fenders. A safety chain will go between the mid ship and <br /> aft rail. <br /> 3.0.16 Four (4) water tight compartments to be installed in locations that are to be specified <br /> by ABS. <br /> 3.0.17 Access hatches shall be provided for removal of the fire pumps, engine complete with <br /> gear, generator and water jets. A hatch shall allow direct access to the inspection cover on the <br /> top of installed water jets. All hatches shall be placed as close to the centerline as possible. <br /> No hatches shall be located at the deck edge without specific written approval by The <br /> Redwood City Fire Department. Hatch covers shall be watertight and operable by one <br /> person. A channel or gutter shall be installed to collect water seepage through the hatches and <br /> drain it clear of the hatch opening. <br /> 3.018 These hatches shall be designed as to allow direct access to and removal of the <br /> engines and fire pumps. The main hatch shall be located just aft of the cabin supported with <br /> gas shocks and a locking bar located inside the main cabin. There shall be an aft engine room <br /> access hatch(Freeman hinged) located from the transom forward which hinges aft. There <br /> shall be a ladder down into the engine room from this aft located hatch. The aft deck steps <br /> shall be wide enough to carry a backboard horizontally by two firefighters. There shall be <br /> ladder provided for the forward engine hatch. Engine hatches shall provide adequate space <br /> for removal of all equipment. Hatches shall be duly supported and meet ABS requirements. <br /> All hatches shall be placed as close to the centerline as possible. Engine hatch covers shall be <br /> weather tight and operable by one person. A channel or gutter shall be installed to collect <br /> water seepage through the hatches and drain it clear of the hatch opening and overboard both <br /> fore & aft. All hatches shall have latches or dogs to hold the hatch closed. Latches or dogs <br /> shall not create a tripping hazard. Latches or dogs shall not require entry into the <br /> compartment below the hatch in order to operate the latch or dog. (Pin locking mechanism <br /> with t-handle in cabin). <br /> 3.0.19 There shall be a removable ladder for survivor retrieval. The ladder shall float. <br /> 3.0.20 There shall be an aft deck mounted Aluminum davit with hand operated winch and <br /> cable and slewing lines and lock pin set. The davit shall be capable of lifting a 55-gallon <br /> drum of foam from the side of a dock to the deck. <br /> 3.0.21 The transom will have the capability to clip in a tow bridle. <br /> 6 <br />
