3.4.14 The contractor shall install NMEA interface cables between the radar, GPS and depth <br /> sounder and demonstrate that these equipments exchange data as designed. <br /> 3.4.15 The contractor shall provide and install all sound signaling devices required by federal <br /> regulations. <br /> 3.4.16 All electronics to be mounted to reduce increase protection and reduce damage from <br /> water. <br /> 3.4.17 All wiring to be enclosed and identified. <br /> Note:Appropriate chaNts, coupler, cables, cross-over, transducers, sounder devices and <br /> connections shall be supplied by the contractor. <br /> 3.5 Electrical System: <br /> 3.5.1 An electrical generator(diesel), tied into one of the fuel tanks with shut off valves to <br /> isolate the fuel system. A minimum rating of 6500 watts will be installed. There will be <br /> visual and audible alarms for engine and electrical operation malfunctions with the ability to <br /> silence the audible alarm. These will be located at the helm. <br /> 3.5.2 A master propulsion engine battery disconnect switch shall be provided and located in <br /> the cabin. The switch shall disconnect all batteries from the distribution system. The switch <br /> shall allow either propulsion battery pair or both battery pairs to be connected to the <br /> distribution system. <br /> 3.5.3 Disconnect switches shall be provided with a field disconnect to the alternators. <br /> 3.5.4 The distribution system shall allow either propulsion alternator to be used for charging <br /> either, or both,propulsion engine battery pairs. <br /> 3.5.5 Wiring shall be color coded or labeled in accordance with the recommendations and <br /> standards of the ABYC. Wiring shall be run in minimum 300 degree, heat resistant (SXL) <br /> looms. Wires to equipment and electrical outlets shall be provided with a minimum three- <br /> inch service loop allowing replacement of the equipment or outlet. <br /> 3.5.6 Penetrations of wires and cables through watertight structure shall be watertight. Four <br /> (4) spare watertight penetrations shall be provided in each watertight bulkhead, with the <br /> eXCeption of the collision bulkhead. <br /> 3.5.7 Circuit breakers shall be located in the cabin/pilothouse, near the steering station. <br /> Breakers shall allow use as switches. At least four (4) spare breakers shall be provided. <br /> Breakers shall be provided and labeled for at least the following functions: <br /> 3.5.7 A Master breaker for each panel as per ABYC. <br /> 3.5.7 B Cabin/pilothouse internal lighting. <br /> 3.5.7 C Navigation lights. <br /> 3.5.7 D Control panel instruments. <br /> 3.5.7 E External floodlights. <br /> 3.5.7 F Emergency beacon. <br /> 3.5.7 G Searchlights. <br /> 3.5.7 H Radar <br /> 3.5.7 I Global positioning system. <br /> 3.5.7 J Radio systems. <br /> 3.5.7 K Cabin/pilothouse heater 40,000 BTU rating minimum. <br /> 3.5.7 L Engine compartment lighting. <br /> 3.5.7 M Engine block heaters. <br /> 3.5.8 A cable with a 20-amp capacity shall be run from one spare breaker to a terminal strip <br /> adjacent to the steering station, if required. <br /> 3.5.9 A cable with a 20-amp capacity shall be run from one spare breaker to a terminal strip <br /> on the aft cabin/pilothouse bulkhead, near the installed bench seat, if required. <br /> 3.5.10 A master amp meter and master voltmeter shall be installed at the breaker panel(s)to <br /> indicate the total electrical load for the 12-volt system. <br /> 10 <br />
