11/05/2012 <br /> Develop new GIS layers as required, and update existing GIS layers using a variety of <br /> GIS software applications (including ArcGIS, Mapguide, FME). <br /> Conducts GIS queries and analysis of departmental data sources in order to develop <br /> decision making tools critical to departmental or division needs. <br /> Create graphical and tabular output such as maps, charts, spreadsheets for use in <br /> project analysis, council presentations, public reference, etc. <br /> Coordinate the job tasks of lower level technical staff. <br /> Provides guidance and training for the City's GIS system. <br /> Assists in the development of staff reports and procedural documents. <br /> Coordinates GIS related projects, including coordination with other City departments <br /> and outside agencies. <br /> Facilitates the coordination of the GIS strategic plan for the City, communicates with <br /> vendors, researches and tests new software, makes purchasing recommendations to <br /> management. <br /> Acts as a City's GIS point of contact. <br /> Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS <br /> Knowledqe of: <br /> Current principles, practices, terminology, and trends in Geographic Information <br /> Systems usage and modern land based mapping application theory. <br /> Capabilities and applications of computer-aided drafting and design, geographic <br /> information systems, relational databases, and computer networks. <br /> ESRI's suite of ArcGIS software products, and Autodesk Mapguide Enterprise <br /> software. <br /> SQL and basic programming languages including Visual Basic and Python. <br /> Modern office equipment including proficiency with Microsoft Office products <br /> such as Word, Excel and Access. <br /> Training and presentation methods. <br /> Principles and practices of project coordination. <br /> ATTY/RE50.2799/ESTABLISH OF THE GIS COORDINATOR CLASSIFICATION AND RESO.#15225 <br /> AMEND THE CITY'S CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY MO#903 <br /> REV:10-19-12 PT <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br />
