To provide a software application with the means of producing current reports ranking collision locations by <br /> number and primary collision factor(PCF). <br /> 11. To train 3 staff inembers in the usage and maintenance of the finalized version of the system software. <br /> 12. To establish a Geographic Information System(GIS)to track collision data and collision locations and to <br /> produce GIS maps. <br /> 13. To reduce the time between an incident and its date of entry into the GIS system from 180 days to 30 days. <br /> The corresponding salary savings are to be tracked and reported. <br /> 14. To improve Police Department and/or Traffic Engineering Department customer service by improving the <br /> time it takes to produce and track collision reports and also by reducing the time that it takes to analyze high <br /> collision locations from 60 minutes to 15 minutes. The corresponding salary savings are to be tracked and <br /> reported. <br /> 15. To establish Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including hardware, software and network cabling or <br /> other linking media for the Police Department andlor the Public Works Department. <br /> 16. To ensure the Police Department and/or the Public Works Department has timely access to current and <br /> complete traffic data required to identify, isolate and analyze critical traffic safety issues. <br /> 17. To identify, develop and support programs that will enhance the systems and the staff expertise to enable <br /> agencies to improve the efficiency and accuracy of identification, analysis and mitigation of critical traffic <br /> collision locations. <br /> Media Obiectives <br /> a. To issue a press release announcing the kick-off of the grant by November 15 of the first grant year. The <br /> press releases and media advisories, alerts, and materials must be emailed to the OTS Public Information <br /> Officer at pio�a�,ots.ca.gov, and copied to your OTS Coordinator, for approval 14 days prior to the issuance <br /> date of the release. <br /> b. To use the following standard language in all press, media, and printed materials: "Funding for this program <br /> was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety,through the National Highway Traffic <br /> Safety Administration." <br /> c. To send all grant-related press releases, media advisories, alerts and general public materials to the OTS <br /> Public Information Officer(PIO) at pio(cr�,ots.ca.Ut,ov, with a copy to your OTS Coordinator. If an OTS <br /> template-based press release is used,the OTS PIO and Coordinator should be copied when the release is <br /> distributed to the press. If an OTS template is not used, a draft press release must first be sent to the OTS <br /> PIO for approval. Drafts should be sent for approval as early as possible to insure adequate turn-around <br /> time. Optimum lead time would be 10-20 days prior to the operation. Media communications reporting the <br /> results of grant activities such as checkpoints and saturation patrols are exempt from the advance approval <br /> requirement. Activities such as warrant or probation sweeps and court stings that could be compromised by <br /> advanced publicity are exempt from pre-publicity, but are encouraged to offer embargoed media coverage <br /> and to report results. <br /> OTS-38b(Rev. 8/09) <br />
