If Contractor does not properly clean the Site, in the opinion of City, then City shall have the <br /> option of using outside equipment to perform the cleanup and such cost will be withheld from <br /> the Contract Sum. <br /> 1.18 FINAL CLEANING <br /> A. Contractor shaii execute final cleaning prior to final inspection, using only properly skilled <br /> workers. <br /> B. Remove grease, dust, dirt, stains, labels, fingerprints, and other foreign materials from exposed <br /> interior and exterior finished surfaces. <br /> C. Repair, patch, and touch up marred surfaces to match adjacent finishes. <br /> D. Clean interior and exterior surfaces exposed to view; remove temporary labeis, stains and <br /> foreign substances, polish transparent and glossy surfaces, vacuum carpeted and soft surfaces. <br /> E. Clean equipment and fixtures to a sanitary condition, clean or replace filters of inechanical <br /> equipment operated during construction, clean ducts, blowers and coils of units operated <br /> without filters during construction. <br /> F. Clean Site; mechanically sweep paved areas. <br /> G. Remove waste and surplus materials, rubbish, and construction facilities from Site. <br /> 1.19 RESPONSIBILITY FOR UNDERGROUND FACILITIES AND OVERHEAD LINES <br /> A. Attention of bidders is specifically directed to the responsibility for the care and protection of <br /> previously installed underground facilities and overhead electrical and communication lines <br /> including storm drains, sanitary sewers, water mains, utility ducts, and appurtenant structures <br /> underlying the roadway improvements and overhead utility lines to be constructed. <br /> B. Contractor shall be solely responsible for the protection and care of such facilities. Any damage <br /> to such facilities discovered during the course of the work and/or final inspection of the work <br /> shall be repaired or replaced by Contractor to the satisfaction of the City Engineer at no <br /> additional expense to the contract prior to acceptance of the work. <br /> C. All existing underground utilities, overhead utilities, and other improvements are not necessarily <br /> shown on the plan. The Contractor shall notify utility companies at least two (2) working days in <br /> advance of construction to field locate utilities. Call Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) at 1- <br /> 800-642-2444. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to determine the existence and <br /> location of existing utilities. Any costs incurred as a result of Contractor's failure to verify <br /> locations of existing utilities shall be borne by the Contractor. <br /> 1.20 DUST CONTROL <br /> A. Contractor shall take appropriate steps such as watering to prevent airborne dust due to work <br /> under this contract. <br /> B. Contractor shall remove and dispose daily, at his cost, off-site dirt, debris, waste and rubbish <br /> from the work area and the construction site. <br /> SPECIAL CONDITIONS 00800-5 <br /> EAST BAYSHRORE ROAD STREET LIGHTING PROJECT <br />
