Authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute a license agreement with
the landowners of Docktown Marina in an amount to be determined and a term not to
exceed three years. MINUTE ORDER 13-049
Mr. Bill Ekern, Community Development Director, reported on the city's opportunity to
assist with the management of Docktown, as they work to determine what will be the
city's long-term plans for this area. He said it is important for the public to understand
that they do not want to disrupt things as they work to provide management
organization, with the appropriate agreements, so that there is clarity on the obligations
for both sides and to make this a safer place. Another goal is to improve the overall
quality of the area since they have determined that there has been a lot of deferred
maintenance. He provided an update of communications with those impacted and what
they plan to do in the future to keep the residents (including those who have floating
homes and are in a liveaboard situation) informed. He noted that some of documents
including the agreements (which were developed recently) are still in the development
stage and they will be providing them to the tenants when they are ready.
Public Comment
Lee Callister, a resident of Docktown, member of the Floating Community Association
and representative of the Peninsula Yacht Club, expressed thanks for keeping things
moving forward in a positive way. He shared some history of the Yacht Club's building
and water tank and how steam ships used to stop here for water. He invited people to
come out as their building has become a community center for people where they have
many events, such as Friday night dinners, yoga, pool tournaments, baby showers,
weddings, and memorial services.
JOINT CITY COUNCIUSUCCESSOR AGENCY BOARD February 25, 2013
MEETING MINUTES PAGE 6
