Strategic and Program Priorities <br /> . .- . . . . <br /> •• - a- Narrative <br /> •. • • Not to exceed 1 a e <br /> - + • • Provide a succinct statement summarizin this Investment <br /> - o s The City of Redwood City Fire Department was awarded funds in PSGP10 to implement the following <br /> project: <br /> 'The purpose of this investment is to enhance local and regional capabilities to prevent and respond to <br /> waterborne acts of terrorism, other maritime threats,and natural and environmental disasters within the <br /> jurisdiction of the Port of Redwood City and throughout the San Francisco Bay region. This will be <br /> accomplished through the acquisition of a Fire/CBRNE response watercraft(Metalcraft Marine Firestorm <br /> 36,or equivalent,that meets or exceeds standards:NFPA 1925 for pumping,OSHA Db rating,46 CFR,USCG <br /> interior flame retardant rating, American Boating and Yachting Council/American Bureau of Shipping <br /> Welding standards. This investment lo includes procurement of necessary safety/security/CBRNE <br /> equipment that will be stowed on board the vessel and utilized by operating personnel. The outcome of <br /> this investment will be the ability to provide rapid waterborne emergency medical service, search and <br /> rescue, hazmat (WMDJ mitigation, detection, decontamination, fire suppression, communications, <br /> command capabilities,and logistical support. The investment will provide multiple mitigation functions for <br /> incidents that are inaccessible to land units within the region. This investment will provide critical CBRNE <br /> protection for the Port of Redwood City, the City of Redwood City, San Mateo County, and other areas <br /> within the Bay Region on an as-needed basis. The capabilities built through this investment will coordinate <br /> Local, Regional, State, and Federal plans and policies to increase our operational readiness for the San <br /> Francisco Bay Region in support of the South eay area with the Sector San Francisco Are Maritime Security <br /> Plan." <br /> The vessel is currently under construction and expected to be delivered to the City of Redwood City Fire <br /> Department in June or July 2013. This investment justification is for additional,mission critical equipment <br /> (fire hoses, nozzles,flashlights, international shore connection, dry suits, lifelines,fire extinguishers, etc.) <br /> that will be stowed on the vessel and utilized by the vessel crew while underway and involved in <br /> operations.
