protest, Councilman Herkner moved to close the public hearing, seconded by Councilman <br />Weymouth and carried. <br />Councilman Herkner moved to introduce Ordinance adding Section 60.2.14 to Ordinance <br />No. 1130, the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, rezoning certain property known as 1612 <br />Gordon Street, Redwood City, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and car^ied. <br />PUBLTC HEARING, Resolution of Intention of the Planning Commission to amend Section 60.4, <br />Ordinance 1130, to rezone from IS to TP property known as Piombo Annexation declared <br />open and affidavits of publication and mailing were ordered filed. Report of the <br />Planning Commission and Staff analysis read stating this property was zoned IS upon <br />annexation, and is now .recommended for TP. It was further reported, that the Planning <br />Commission had received a protest from Howard Brod, one of property owners in the <br />area, and continuance of the Commission hearing requested in order that he might <br />submit a development plan. His request was rejected because of time limitation for <br />rezoning from IS and opinion of Planning Commission that areas in periphery of Redwood <br />Shores General Plan should follow similar development procedures in order to assure <br />orderly development of area. <br />Coouncilman Bury further questioned protest made by Mr. Brod. City Manager stated <br />he had communicated with Mr. Brod and he was advised of time limitation on rezoning <br />action, also that Mr. Brod had been in negotiations with Leslie Properties, for possible <br />sale K the property to Leslie. <br />There being no communications or oral protest, Councilman Royer moved to dose the <br />public hearing, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />Councilman Royer moved to introduce Ordinance adding Section 60.4.1 to Ordinance No. <br />1170, the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, rezoning property known as the "Piombo Annexa- <br />tion" seconded by Councilman Grager and carried. <br />Swi.mminE Pool at Hoover School. Councilman Roger stated preliminary plans for swimming <br />pool had been submitted to both Park and Recreation Commission and Elemednry School <br />Board and approved and recommended by both bodies. He requested preliminary plans <br />be presented for approval by Council at this time, by architect Mr. Leslie Irwin. <br />Mr. Irwin submitted preliminary plans to Council and <br />described details of proposed alternate plans for "L" <br />shape pool and regular pool, dressing rooms, provisions <br />made for possible enclosures at a later time, etc. <br />Councilman Royer reviewed costs of both alternate plans, "L" plan being estimated at <br />some 10154,000, the regular pool at $118.390. He staged the "L" shaped pool is considered <br />to be the best facility, and hoped that by asking; for bids on the alternate plans, <br />the ultimate facility :=could be found to be within the budgeted funds. <br />Councilman Royer asked that Council authorize architect to proceed with final plans <br />for submission to Council by t1e middle of March to keep to time schedule proposed. <br />Councilman Petersen questioned further details on alternate bids and costs involved <br />in preparation of alternate plans. Councilman Royer explained Committee recommended <br />preparation of alternate bids in spite of extra costs involved, which he thought <br />would be minimal. Mr. Irwin stated his fee for preparation of alternate plans would <br />be in the neighborhood of 52,500. <br />Councilman Herkner questioned architect fees and provisions for extra cost for <br />
