City Manager recommended this be referred to Staff for preparation of necessary <br />documents after contacting people concerned in this area. Councilman Granger <br />moved to refer this item to Staff with authorization to prepare documents necessary <br />for formation of lighting district, seconded by Councilman Weymouth. (MINUTE ORDER <br />#66-4i) <br />Councilman Royer moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 4911 ORDERING CALL FOR BIDS, ALTAMONT <br />WAY-T,IIDFIELD WAY -UTAH tV,AY AND VICINITY IMPROVE 1T.NTS . Council advised call for bids <br />necessar-y at this time in order construction costs might be available for public <br />hearing set for March 7, 1966. Motion seconded by Councilman Granger and carried <br />on roll call vote. <br />City Attorney asked that Acceptance of Shepard Way and Vicinity Improvements, scheduled <br />for this meeting, be continued for one week because of a legal suit filed in this <br />matter v,,hich he had been unable as yet to check. Councilman Weymouth moved to con- <br />tinue acceptance of Shepard Way and Vicinity Improvements as requested by City <br />:',ttorney for one caeei. (Feb. 21) seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />(=JUTE ORDER T#66-42 ) <br />Mayor Rosselli stated he had as,I-ed for discussion of a possible tree planting program, <br />as in driving around City it i%as most apparent a uniform tree planting program should <br />be ut-_lized. Ile also felt City's service clubs could be invited to join a City -.aide <br />proUd� raof tree planting once a year. <br />C.T.ty Manager advised Council he had met with Parr Superintendent to discuss this <br />matter and in particular tree planting problems in assessment districts throughout <br />the City. He stated he had also recommended that this matter be discussed by the <br />P.rc and Recreation Commission immediately for their recommendation as to a. policy <br />for Council's consideration, and its inclusion in this year's budget to start a <br />program on a small scale ,<ahi_ch, would permit replacing and planting trees on a given <br />area each year. Ile recommended that City set up a revolving fund which would <br />eliminate tree planting requirement from assessment districts and prevent the contro- <br />versies this caused. <br />Mayor Rosselli stated he felt recommendation made was good but also still felt some <br />of service club and fraternal organizations might take on a project for City beauti- <br />fication in specific areas which could also aid the proposed program. <br />Mayor Rosselli stated he had asked for recommendation for a Historian of Redwood City be <br />discussed, as he felt this should be referred to the Centennial Committee for study, <br />as tiac have several older citizens of Redwood City that could supply much of this <br />valuable history of Redtivood City to be preserved on tape recordings, and suggested <br />space be allowed in library for items of historical significance to be collected and <br />preserved. Councilman Fury felt Centennial. Committee would welcome this suggestion <br />anal felt official action should be taken by Council to recommend this to Centennial <br />Committee. Councilman Fury moved that recommendation for appointment of City His- <br />torian be referred to the Centennial Committee for their consideration, seconded by <br />Councilman Petersen and carried.
