Mrs. Fryer stated excessive amount of other clearance sales at this time <br />and recent inclement weather had slowed progress on disposal of her stock. <br />City Manager stated he would recommend this request be granted and that inventory <br />would be rechecked. (IMemo 2/15/66) Councilman Bury expressed opposition to grant- <br />ing of extension. Councilman Herkner moved to grant extension of 15 days to <br />Narch 14th as requested for Carol's Closing -Out Sale Permit, seconded by Councilman <br />1.11eymouth and carried on roll call vote, Councilmen Bury, Granger and Mayor Rosselli <br />voting no, Councilmen Herkner, Petersen, Royer and Weymouth voting ,yes. <br />(MINUTE ORDER 1166-44) <br />Communication from Oscar K. Johnson, 26+7 Middlefield Road, thanking Fire and Police <br />Departments for their efficient aid during a fire at his premises. Mayor Rosselli <br />noted this property was located in the Dumbarton Fire Protection District and <br />asked that a copy of this letter be sent to John Connors and the District. <br />(Memo 2/15/66) <br />Mrs. Mary Henderson questioned communications addressed <br />to Council, and in particular, communication from School <br />Board requesting additional time for study of School Report, <br />to which. she wished to state her support. <br />Mayor Rosselli advised recommendation of Staff had been that discussion of School <br />Report be held until after presentation of Report to School District on February <br />18th. The letter was read by the Clerk for the information of the audience. <br />Councilman Petersen stated it was not often his policy to direct adverse comments <br />but he wished to express his feelings concerning negative attitudes consistently <br />expressed towards City's administrative body by the Redwood City Civic Associa- <br />tion, and in particular their communication directed to the State College Board <br />expressing their opposition to college site proposed for Redwood Shores, and felt <br />definite Council action should be taken to counteract their statement and indi- <br />cate this group does not reflect a majority opinion in this matter. <br />Councilman Petersen stated he wished to make a motion requesting Council authorize <br />a letter be directed to State College Board indicating size of membership of Red- <br />wood City Cific Associza.tion, and fact their views did not reflect views of <br />majority citizens in Redwood City. <br />Councilman Weymouth felt this fact was evident by Resolution adopted by the Council <br />as many other criteria necessary than citizens' views for selection of college site. <br />Councilman Royer stated it would never be his intention to repress in any manner <br />right of all to express their opinions, but agreed City would not want impression <br />spread that this association was a large group, reflecting view of majority of <br />citizens. Councilman Royer stated he c%aould second motion made by Councilman Petersen <br />if this would help to supply correct information and further promotion of a college <br />site in Redwood City. He would not, however, comment on the balance of Councilman <br />Petersen's remarks. <br />
