Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />February 21, 1966 8:00 P. M. <br />Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Petersen. <br />Invocation led by Reverend Ronald Barton, Assistant Pastor, First Congregational Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL the folloiring were noted present: Councilmen Robert H. Bury, Floyd D. <br />Granger, Herbert G. Petersen, '.'lilliam H. Royer, Ray A. Weymouth, Mayor John S. Rosselli <br />and City Clerk Helen C. Moore. Councilman Sidney D. Herkner eras noted absent. Also <br />noted present were City Manager Howard C. U11rich, City Attorney Richard E. Gardella, <br />Police Chief Willaim Faulstich, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, City Engineer, Glenn M. Jain, <br />Senior Planner Speer McCle.11.an, Zoning Coordinator William Shackelford, Recreation <br />Director A. S. Morton, Park Superintendent Pasco Balzarini, uditor-lccountant Jack' <br />Ference, Water Superintendent Warren Mitchell., Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, and <br />Deputy City Clerk ;Marian McCrindle. <br />Councilman Weymouth moved to approve Minutes of Regular Monthly Study Meeting of <br />February 1.4, 1966, as mailed, seconded by Councilman Petersen and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING on appeal of Paul A. Richter from denial by Planning Commission of his <br />application for a Use Permit to allow the sale of beer, in an TR (industrial <br />Restricted) District, located at 1826 Industrial 'Tay, declared open and affidavits <br />of publication and mailing ordered filed. Report of the Planning Commission was <br />read recommending denial. Staff Analysis read describing premises and report <br />received since public hearing from Building Inspector reciting Section of Code which <br />would preclude this type of use in this building because of its location .in relation <br />to a public street. <br />Staff pointed out while this information had not been available to the Commission <br />at their public hearing, Fire Department had stated location of building proposed <br />for this use would restrict action of their equipment in case of fire. Planning <br />Staff concurred with recommendation for denial.. <br />ppeal. by Paul A. Richter read in full in which he stated he ,'could make changes to <br />comply with Fire Department regulations. The following letters were read in protest. <br />C. J. Bates & Son, Incorporated, Chester, Conn., protesting <br />because of their ''lest Coast office and c.arehouse facilities located <br />adjacent to property proposed for this use and not felt to be in <br />best interests of commercial use. <br />Plastic Productions Co., 1800 Industrial Way, protesting proposed <br />use as harmful. to general area, and offering to pay expenses of <br />any City Official to investigate similar enterprises of appellant <br />in San Diego. <br />Mr. McElheney, stating he was a representative of Mr. Richter, announced Mr. Richter <br />has erred him requesting public hearing be continued because of his inability to <br />be pr?sent due to illness. <br />Mayor Rosselli ruled public hearing would continue for presentation of evidence <br />and for benefit of those present. <br />
