Minutes of Regular W,=,ekly Study Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />February 28, 1966 7:30 P. M. <br />Mee'ling called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor Rosselli. <br />Mayor Rosselli asked that Councilman Petersen make his report concerning Task Force <br />Committee conclusions at Study Meetino, in order to save further time on regular <br />agenda for Redwood Shores presentation. Councilman Petersen reported this Committee <br />brought into being by the County primarily to study feasibility of a cross -traffic <br />street, or streets, between Foster City and Redwood Shores and crux of the conclusion <br />of Committee was that a connecting road was advisable and feasible. He showed illus- <br />tration of traffic patterns and described a two .lane connecting street which 1.gas <br />thought to be sufficient for the foreseeable future and with which recommendation and <br />conclusion he concurred in its entirety, and reouested Council's approval. <br />Councilman Bury questioned inconveniences in traffic patterns from these sites back <br />over the Bayshore Freeway and was advised this not part of scope of this report. After <br />further discussion, the report of Task Force Committee was accepted. „ Minute Order <br />implementing this request will be entered in the regular legislative meetins,. <br />Mayor Rosselli reviewed schedule for presentation by Staff of Feasibility Report. for <br />�icceptance by the Council. <br />Councilman Bury questioned whether underground ing was being required for 1:,'ayne Coairt and <br />r;as advised condition was covered. <br />Councilman Bur;; also questioned request for change of timing for signals at Roosevelt and <br />l Camino and if part of realigning of signals. Police Chief advised this was mainly <br />to be considered as an interim measure until opening; of Oak Street and left turn storage <br />I <br />anes accomplished as planned. Councilman Bury suggested relocation of sina.1. at <br />Chestnut Street and was advised by Police Chief the Division of Highways had denied this <br />reauest . <br />Councilman Herkner cuestioned whether Traffic Bureau had studied proposed Safeway Store <br />site on Jacobsen property, Woodside and Union, and also commented on dangerous entrance <br />to Lucky Store on Jefferson Avenue and felt precautions should be taken in this pro- <br />posE'd site. Police Chief stated. entrance plans would have to be made on private pro- <br />perty but stated no record of accidents at location noted by Councilman Herkner. <br />City Manager reported Safeway Stores will widen and improve .'oodside Road at this <br />proposed site and stated Staff felt Safeway Stores would not generate any heavier <br />traffic on `oodside Road and that at present, Traffic Fureau recommended approval for <br />this site for Safeway Stores because of immediate plans for improvement of street. <br />Councilman Petersen questioned whether all avenues had been explored to obtain additional <br />egress out of Wayne Court. Senior Planner advised this point had been checked when <br />plan lines set a year ago and only other egress would have meant removal of a dwelling. <br />He also stated this point had been well discussed at time plan lines set, and pointed <br />out other similar situations. Councilman Royer stated change at this time difficult <br />after plan lines set. <br />
