Minutes of Regular W,=,ekly Study Meeting Redwood City Council February 28, 1966 7:30 P. M. Mee'ling called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor Rosselli. Mayor Rosselli asked that Councilman Petersen make his report concerning Task Force Committee conclusions at Study Meetino, in order to save further time on regular agenda for Redwood Shores presentation. Councilman Petersen reported this Committee brought into being by the County primarily to study feasibility of a cross -traffic street, or streets, between Foster City and Redwood Shores and crux of the conclusion of Committee was that a connecting road was advisable and feasible. He showed illus- tration of traffic patterns and described a two .lane connecting street which 1.gas thought to be sufficient for the foreseeable future and with which recommendation and conclusion he concurred in its entirety, and reouested Council's approval. Councilman Bury questioned inconveniences in traffic patterns from these sites back over the Bayshore Freeway and was advised this not part of scope of this report. After further discussion, the report of Task Force Committee was accepted. „ Minute Order implementing this request will be entered in the regular legislative meetins,. Mayor Rosselli reviewed schedule for presentation by Staff of Feasibility Report. for �icceptance by the Council. Councilman Bury questioned whether underground ing was being required for 1:,'ayne Coairt and r;as advised condition was covered. Councilman Bur;; also questioned request for change of timing for signals at Roosevelt and l Camino and if part of realigning of signals. Police Chief advised this was mainly to be considered as an interim measure until opening; of Oak Street and left turn storage I anes accomplished as planned. Councilman Bury suggested relocation of sina.1. at Chestnut Street and was advised by Police Chief the Division of Highways had denied this reauest . Councilman Herkner cuestioned whether Traffic Bureau had studied proposed Safeway Store site on Jacobsen property, Woodside and Union, and also commented on dangerous entrance to Lucky Store on Jefferson Avenue and felt precautions should be taken in this pro- posE'd site. Police Chief stated. entrance plans would have to be made on private pro- perty but stated no record of accidents at location noted by Councilman Herkner. City Manager reported Safeway Stores will widen and improve .'oodside Road at this proposed site and stated Staff felt Safeway Stores would not generate any heavier traffic on `oodside Road and that at present, Traffic Fureau recommended approval for this site for Safeway Stores because of immediate plans for improvement of street. Councilman Petersen questioned whether all avenues had been explored to obtain additional egress out of Wayne Court. Senior Planner advised this point had been checked when plan lines set a year ago and only other egress would have meant removal of a dwelling. He also stated this point had been well discussed at time plan lines set, and pointed out other similar situations. Councilman Royer stated change at this time difficult after plan lines set.
