Park and Recreation Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of April 25, 2007 <br /> Director Centeno announced that Commissioner Newblanc has been working <br /> with Community Development Department and has received approval for two <br /> prospective bird bath sites: one in the Post Office Paseo and one in the <br /> Library Garden project. <br /> M/S 7oseph/Swope: To approve the prospective bird bath sites as <br /> proposed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Commissioners Swope (primary) and White (secondary) volunteered to <br /> participate on the Bird Bath Project Subcommittee. <br /> ITEM 3 — COMMISSION COMMUNICATON PROCESS WITH PUBLIC <br /> Director Centeno reviewed the section of the Commissioner Handbook on <br /> "Communication" and spoke about ways the Commissioners should respond <br /> to the public and particularly the media. She emphasized that the <br /> Commissioners speak as individuals unless the Commission has taken formal <br /> action. She stated the Commissioners should feel comfortable referring calls <br /> to staff and not feel obligated to answer questions from the press. <br /> ITEM 4 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Park Needs Assessment <br /> Superintendent Hover announced the subcommittee will be meeting with MIG <br /> on May 10. <br /> -Park Ru/es Enforcement <br /> Director Centeno thanked Chairperson Slusser for presenting the new park <br /> rules at the April 23 City Council meeting. She announced that staff is <br /> looking at different ways to educate the public about the new park rules. <br /> Ideas include putting a notice in City water bills, publicize in eNews, and the <br /> City website. A sample water bill notice was distributed for comment. <br /> -Hoover Park Renovation Project <br /> Superintendent Hover said the subcommittee will be meeting on April 30 at <br /> 1:OOpm. <br /> -Solari Windmill <br /> Superintendent Hover spoke about the work being done by the Native Sons <br /> of the Golden West on the restoration of the windmill. Many individuals, <br /> groups and local companies are helping with this project. Staff expects the <br /> windmill to be dedicated on Memorial Day weekend. <br />
