Mr. Perkins said he was also involved in starting the children's art <br /> displays for the San Francisco Airport. <br /> Mr. Perkins said if the Commission is interested in having a similar type of <br /> program, the first thing that needed to be done was a needs assessment and <br /> then a budget would have to be developed. He said resources were an <br /> important part of the project and suggested using the Boy and Girl Scouts, <br /> schools, City Council, non-profit groups such as Rotary, Kiwanis and Lions, <br /> and also art organizations in the community. Mr. Perkins felt the <br /> Commission's interest in a children's art project was very worthwhile and <br /> was probably the only kind in the area. The Commissioners thanked Mr. <br /> Perkins for his presentation and for coming to this evening's meeting. <br /> ITEM 3 -FOX THEATER-REVIEW OF TASK FORCE REPORT <br /> Assistant to the City Manager Corinne Centeno said after last night's Fox <br /> Theater Task Force meeting, many changes were made to the Executive <br /> Report. The report will now be presented at the February 28 City Council <br /> meeting by members of the Task Force. She reviewed the Executive Report <br /> with the Commissioners and each were given a copy. She noted that each of <br /> the five recommendations made in the report will be presented and voted on <br /> separately at the City Council meeting. <br /> The Commissioners discussed the recommendations and asked questions of <br /> Ms. Centeno regarding the report. Commissioner Fischer provided the <br /> Commissioners with a copy of the Historic Resources Element section of the <br /> City's Strategic General Plan adopted in January 1990 and asked them to <br /> review it as it relates to the Fox Theater. The Commissioners thanked Ms. <br /> Centeno for her work on the Task Force. <br /> M/S Filippi/Distefano: For the Cultural Commission to accept <br /> Recommendations 1, 2, 4 and 5 of the Executive <br /> Summary. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Filippi/Fischer: To accept Recommendation 3 to fund $12,400 to hire <br /> a consultant with the understanding that a copy of the <br /> consultant's report and the Fox Theater Task Force's <br /> recommendation would come back to the Cultural <br /> Commission to vote on the recommended solutions. <br /> Motion passed. <br />
