M/S Moran/Piulle: To write a letter to Mike Church with copy to Charles <br /> Jany requesting that the new bus shelters be designed <br /> to keep with the same architectural feeling of the <br /> Cal-Train station. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Piulle/Moran: To select a piece of art to be placed at a location designed <br /> across the railroad tracks and that this recommendation <br /> be taken by the committee back to Charles Jany. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Filippi/Piulle: To select the Winslow area east of the railroad tracks as <br /> a site for public art and to look at another site on the <br /> west side of the railroad tracks and to send this <br /> information in a letter to Mike Church with copies <br /> to Charles jany and David Irmer. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Commissioner Fischer suggested that the letter indicate that the Commission <br /> would be happy to meet with Mr. Irmer to discuss this matter. <br /> ITEM 5-CHILDREN'S DRAWING CONTEST <br /> Supervisor Hannon asked the Commissioners if they had any ideas for the <br /> theme of this year's contest. She gave the Commissioners a detailed timeline <br /> showing the estimated dates for the contest leading up to the awards <br /> ceremony. Commissioner Piulle suggested having the children do a self- <br /> portrait as the theme. <br /> Don Saye asked if the Commission could investigate the donor of the red <br /> dragon sculpture which used to be located in the,children's section of the old <br /> Library. He mentioned it was damaged in the move to the new Library site <br /> and would like to have it restored. Supervisor Hedges said she would <br /> research the matter and report back in March. <br /> M/S Filippi/Distefano: To select "Self-Portrait" as the theme for the drawing <br /> contest. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> ITEM 7-LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Supervisor Hedges reported that 75 people attended the first program of Joe <br /> Marchi's American Musical series. The second program in the series will be <br /> held on February 22 and is entitled "Development of the American Voice". <br /> She noted that Schaberg Library will be closed from February 7 until March 7 <br /> due to renovations being made to the building. <br />
