M/S Piulle/ : To use $300.00 from the John Raitt Concert fund and <br /> give to joe Marchi. <br /> Commissioner Piulle withdrew the motion. <br /> M/S Moran/Distefano: To send a letter to Joe Marchi indicating the <br /> Commission's support and include a check for $170.00. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Chairperson Filippi asked the letter to request that we keep his grant <br /> application and carry over until July to be considered for the 9495 fiscal year. <br /> The letter should also indicate that an agreement be made to have the <br /> Commission receive a percentage of the profits from the planned event. <br /> ITEM 4-PUBLIC ART FOLLOW UP <br /> -Police Station <br /> Commissioner Piulle reviewed the process that she, Commissioner Fischer <br /> and Captain Granucci followed in selecting the sculpture for the new Police <br /> Facility. Last week, the committee along with Police Chief Tony Guardino, <br /> made the final selection from the three finalists. The winning artist, Ante <br /> Buljan is a San Mateo resident with a Redwood City studio. A smaller <br /> version of the maintenance free bronze scuplture selected was presented to <br /> the Commission. Commissioner Fischer said a larger mock-up of the <br /> scuplture will be done in wood before the final scuplture is completed. Final <br /> size of the bronze sculpture will be 11'x 4'x 2'. She noted that Mr. Buljan <br /> intended to apprentice local students in the project. She mentioned that this <br /> particular piece was overwhelmingly supported by Chief Guardino, Captain <br /> Granucci and their staff. Commissioner Piulle and Fischer asked for the <br /> Commission's endorsement of this concept. <br /> Chairperson Filippi thanked Commissioner Piulle and Fischer for their hard <br /> work in this process which is still not yet over. <br /> M/S Redington/Moran: To register the Cultural Commission's great support <br /> of this scuplture and the decision of the committee. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> -City Hall <br /> There was no further information on public art at the new City Hall. The <br /> project architect was selected at the May 2 City Council meeting. <br /> -Red Morton Center <br /> Supervisor Hannon reported that the Park and Recreation Commission has <br /> formed a fund raising task force consisting of three of its Commissioners. <br /> They would like to raise $200,000.00 and a portion of those funds would be <br /> used for public art for the new facility.
