Frank Bravo, President of the Sequoia Alumni Association, told the
Commission he felt the $2 million figure was a low estimate for the
renovation of Carrington Hall. He said the Alumni Association has put
together an endowment fund for the renovation of Carrington Hall and they
are also trying to get it on the National Historic Register in order to apply for
grants for the renovation process. He said the Alumni Association is more
than willing to participate and capable of raising funds for the project. She felt public art provides a quality of life atmosphere for
Redwood City. Commissioner Piulle also spoke about the need for public art
at the new Red Morton Center and a "wish list" that has been developed for
the project which includes public art. The project is currently over budget by
$200,000 and a fund raising committee consisting of inembers of the Civic
Cultural and Park and Recreation Commissions is being developed to help
raise funds for the project.
Director Nelson spoke about the "Sculpture on Loan" Program operated by
the City of Los Altos.
