Commission is looking to organize a large committee for the fund raising <br /> efforts. Commissioner Piulle said she would be attending the August 24 <br /> meeting and will report back. <br /> -City Hall <br /> Superintendent Hartman reported the City Hall Facilities Committee is <br /> meeting to develop the needs of different groups and departments who will <br /> occupy the new City Hall. Commissioner Piulle felt the Cultural <br /> Commission should be included on this committee and the other <br /> Commissioners agreed. Chairperson Filippi asked that a letter be sent to <br /> Community Development Director Deborah Nelson to state the <br /> Commission's desire to participate on the committee and stay involved in <br /> the process. <br /> Chairperson Filippi stated he was contacted by Charles Jany of the Planning <br /> Department regarding the Commission's memo to Director Nelson regarding <br /> the review and selection process of murals for the City. Mr. Jany suggested <br /> sending a letter to the City Council stating that the Cultural Commission has <br /> already met with Director Nelson and Charles Jany regarding this matter and <br /> to suggest that the Cultural Commission would like to become involved in <br /> the mural review process and to help develop a policy decision on this <br /> matter. <br /> M/S Ball/Moran: To write a letter to City Council to indicate the Cultural <br /> Commission's interest and desire to develop a mural <br /> review process and participate in the process. <br /> The motion was retracted by Commissioners Ball and Moran. <br /> Commissioners Piulle and Distefano volunteered to form a sub-committee to <br /> develop a mural review policy and will report back to the Commission. <br /> ITEM 5-CONCERT PROGRAM REVIEW <br /> The Commissioners each made comments regarding this year's Concert in <br /> the Park Series. Commissioner Moran said she enjoyed the El Camino Youth <br /> Symphony concert at Stafford Park but requested that volleyball not be <br /> permitted when the concerts are being held. She noted several people were <br /> hit by volleyballs while watching the concert. Supervisor Hannon <br /> announced that effective with last night's concert at Stafford, an exclusive use <br /> permit was issued by the department and signs were posted prohibiting <br /> volleyball the evening of the concert. <br /> Commissioner Piulle stated that if there is only room for one banner at a <br /> concert, she felt we should use the one with the Cultural Commission's <br /> name. She enjoyed the concert at Hoover Park and felt that we should <br />
