  a
r " .,

Chairperson Filippi reviewed the procedures to be followed under "Matters of
Commission Interest" and "Announcements". He said after speaking with
City Attorney Schricker, it was explained that "Matters of Commission
Interest" can only contain matters where the Commissioners will be
reporting on a particular event they have attended. This item must be
specifically listed on the agenda. The Commissioners should contact staff to
add a discussion item to "Matters of Commission Interest". Under
"Announcements", the Commissioners would use this category to announce
an event to be held in the future. You cannot solicit tickets or make
judgment comments under this item.
M/S Fischer/Piulle: To have a standing category on our agenda entitled
"Evaluation or Discussion of Cultural Events held
during the past 30 days".
Motion passed.
This agenda item would be placed before Matters of Commission Interest.
The Commissioners all agreed to continue the procedure of requiring a
motion and the unanimous approval of the Commission to continue the
meetings past 9:30pm. If one Commissioner votes "no" then the meeting
would be over. It was also suggested to limit people to 5 minutes for their
grant presentations and to allot 10 minutes for questions from the
Commission.
ITEM 10- SUMMER CONCERT SERIES REVIEW
The Commissioners made the following suggestions and comments
regarding the 1994 Summer Concert Series:
-Glad to see the continued concerts in Redwood Shores
-Explore funding from the Port Commission for next year
-Satisfied with attendance; well received by community.
-Locations are good especially at Stafford and Mezes Parks
-Need to be more selective on bands; people do not relate to all types of music
-Suggested an afternoon tea dance for next year
-Consider having a weekend concert
-Opera in the park emphasis
-Have a concert on the Sequoia High School campus near El Camino Real
-Begin concerts at 6:45pm rather than 6:30pm
-Experiment with one weekend concert next year
-Redwood Shores lunchtime concert was good
-Concert at Farmers Market should be re-thought; not necessarily worthwhile
because audience is not there to listen to music
-Starting the concerts later in the evening, weather gets colder
-Keep Hoover Park concert; attendance was up from previous year;
recommend that anything said in another language to the audience should be
translated into English
