Returning Eo Item 1 on the agenda: <br /> El Camino Youth S,�m�hon� <br /> Sara Salsbury of the El Camino Youth Symphony explained her group is <br /> applying for a grant of$1,350 to conduct two concerts at the Fox Theater. One <br /> will be a young people's matinee concert and one will be an evening concert <br /> entitled "Listen to America". The ticket prices will be $6.00 for adults and <br /> $3.00 for students/seniors and free tickets will be offered to the students of the <br /> Redwood City School District. Ms. Salsbury said the group has no problem <br /> with the $1.00 surcharge at the Fox Theater. The El Camino Youth Symphony <br /> is also interested in possibility doing two concerts next summer for the <br /> Commission. Ms. Salsbury explained the group has increased in size this year <br /> to more than 100 members. Several new members joined as a result of last <br /> year's Fox Theater concert and from the summer concert. She discussed the <br /> idea of their Board being willing to donate some funds to the Carrington Hall <br /> fund if they make a profit at their Fox Theater performances. <br /> The following items were taken out of order: <br /> ITEM 3-REQUEST FUNDING FROM PORT COMMISSION <br /> The Commissioners discussed making another presentation to the Port <br /> Commission for funding. <br /> M/S Moran/Redington: To take a packet of information and make a <br /> presentation to request funding for next year's summer <br /> concert program to the Port Commission. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Commissioners Distefano, Fischer and Redington will represent the <br /> Commission at the Port Commission. The Commissioners requested that <br /> staff contact the Port Commission to arrange a date for them to make a <br /> presentation. <br /> Return to Item 1 on the agenda: <br /> Raices de Mexico In <br /> Javier Pacheco of Raices de Mexico explained his group would like to present <br /> two performances. Each performance would consist of an evening show and <br /> also a matinee for children. The performances will feature four live music <br /> groups and dancing. Because of the condition of the floor at the Fox Theater, <br /> they will have to bring in another stage floor for the dancers to perform on at <br /> an additional cost. He mentioned that Raices de Mexico has received a grant <br /> of $5,400.00 from the National Endowment for the Arts and Mr. Pacheco said <br /> they expect more support to be coming.
