ITEM 7-CARRINGTON HALL UPDATE
Commissioner Redington reported the committee met on November 29 and
had seven people in attendance. Commissioners Redington, Moran and
Fischer felt they need to meet to talk about a way to survey the committee
members to determine what is the best night for the committee to meet.
Chairperson Filippi felt the committee should determine if they want to have
a smaller number of committee members or may want to recruit additional
members.
ITEM 8 -REPORT ON YEAR'S ACTIVITIES
Chairperson Filippi reviewed the draft Summary of 1994 Activities with the
Commission and several changes and additions were made.
M/S Redington/Moran: To accept the summary report as revised.
Motion passed.
Chairperson Filippi asked that a copy of this summary be sent to all
Department Heads and the Port Commission.
ITEM 9 - 1995 EVENTS/IDEAS
Commissioner Piulle asked for the support of the Commission for her to
pursue discussions with Neva, a Russian dance troupe. Chairperson Filippi
said he would like to re-name this agenda item "Focus'95" which would
include future events which enhance the cultural arts in Redwood City.
The following ideas were suggested as 1995 events for the Commission:
-Golden Gate Ice Rink; Chairperson Filippi felt the Commission does not
offer enough dance performance activities and might want to invite a
representative come to speak about possible performances.
-Tongan performing group; Commissioner Redington will check on.
-Events in Redwood Shores; perhaps invite Carol Ford of Redwood Shores
Homeowners Association to come to a Commission meeting to discuss
possible ideas for events to be held there.
-Contact Carol Bowling, dance instructor at Canada College.
-Kimiko Sugano, Department's ballet instructor has expressed an interest in
doing a performance at the Veterans Memorial Building in late Spring 1995.
