M/S Redington/Ball: To send a letter to Tom Gilman, Chairperson of the
Architectural Review Board on public art
percentage.
Motion withdrawn.
Commissioner Piulle noted that when the original letter was sent to the
Mayor and City Council (previous to the April 14, 1994 letter), information
from other cities with their percentage for art programs was included with the
letter. She said she would locate the original letter and update the
information provided by other cities. This matter will be placed on the
February agenda.
ITEM 7-LOGO FOR DIRECTIONAL SIGNAGE DOWNTOWN
Don Saye, member of the Architectural Advisory Committee, spoke about the
proposed logo for directional signage in the downtown area. He explained
the reasons why the final one was selected and asked for the Commissions'
support of the final format. Superintendent Hartman said Charles Jany said
the Architectural Review Committee will be meeting next Tuesday at 8:OOam
to discuss the final format selected and are looking for input from the
Cultural Commission. The proposed format will eventually go to the City
Council with the rest of the entry features for approval. Mr. Saye mentioned
that there is not a lot of flexibility in the format due to the strict requirements
of CalTrans. The Coxnmissioners discussed the proposed logo design and
gave their comments to Mr. Saye.
M/S Piulle/Redington: To accept the proposed courthouse "dome" logo.
Motion passed. (4-yes, 2-no)
ITEM 8-INTERSERVICE CLUB REPRESENTATIVE
Due to the fact that both Superintendent Hartman and Commissioner Moran
attend the Interservice Coordinating Council meetings each month, it was
decided that a Cultural Commission representative was not needed.
Commissioner Moran said she would report to the Commission any
information she receives at these meetings.
The following items were taken out of order:
ITEM 10-FOCUS '95
-Formation of Sub-Committee
Chairperson Filippi suggested the Commission could establish liasion
representatives who could meet with various commissions/committees
rather than have our Commission have joint meetings with separate groups.
