� <br /> M/S Filippi/Fischer: To grant $5,600.00 to the Music in the Schools Program. <br /> Motion passed. (1 abstention-Piulle due to conflict of interest). <br /> ITEM 3 - SEQUOIA PLAYERS GRANT REQUEST <br /> Danny Broome and Ray Doherty of the Sequoia Players presented their grant <br /> request for $2,000.00 which would fund their musical production of <br /> "Brigadoon". They are planning 3 separate productions this year including <br /> "Plaza Suite" on November 17-18. T'here will be 3 performances of <br /> "Brigadoon" and tickets will be offered at $5.00 per ticket. The <br /> Commissioners asked if they were applying for any other grants and Mr. <br /> Broome indicated they would be approaching the Sequoia Alumni <br /> Association for funding. Commissioner Filippi asked if they would consider <br /> inviting John Gill and McKinley students and parents to a technical rehearsal <br /> of "Brigadoon" to encourage future participation in their program and Mr. <br /> Doherty agreed to the idea. Mr. Broome said they have approximately 65 <br /> students involved in Sequoia Players and that offering a musical gives an <br /> opportunity to have the maximum amount of students involved in the <br /> production. Commissioner Filippi asked if Sequoia Players could supply the <br /> Commission with documentation supporting the arts. Henry Use suggested <br /> having each student maintain an authentic assessment log as a method to <br /> document activity in the program and offered to assist Sequoia Players. <br /> M/S Piulle/Filippi: To grant $2,000.00 to the Sequoia Players. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> ITEM 4-KENNEDY SCHOOL GRANT REQUEST <br /> This matter was deferred until a future meeting. <br /> ITEM 5 - REDWOOD CITY ART CENTER GRANT REQUEST <br /> Commissioner Distefano removed herself from the dais as she is a member of <br /> the Redwood City Art Center Board of Directors. Betty Moran of the Art <br /> Center explained they are requesting a grant of $200.00 to provide <br /> entertainment for the Art Center grand opening on November 17. <br /> M/S Filippi/Distefano: To grant up to $200.00 for musical entertainment for <br /> the Redwood City Art Center grand opening. <br /> Motion passed. (1 abstention-Distefano due to a conflict of interest). <br /> ITEM 6-AD HOC CITIZENS ADVISORY GROUP FOR THE ARTS <br /> McKinley School Principal Dan Larion explained the Redwood City <br /> Elementary School District received federal funds to convert john Gill <br /> Elementary School and McKinley Middle School into performing arts <br />
