and the request for Redwood Shores concerts. Chairperson Filippi,
Commissioner Ball and Supervisor Hannon will work with Ms. Girnler on
this matter.
Miss Redwood City Pageant Request
M/S Redington/Moran: To grant $1,000.00 to the Miss Redwood City Pageant.
Motion passed. (7-no)
The Commissioners discussed the fact that their outside funding request for
the Concert in the Park Series is still under consideration at this time.
M/S Piulle/Redington: To postpone all funding of grants requests and grant
requests until next month.
Motion passed.
ITEM 6-FOX THEATER UPDATE
Corinne Centeno spoke about the Architectural Report and the Fox Theater
Task Force. She explained that the Task Force agreed at their last meeting that
their work needs to come to closure. They have recommended that the
$30,000.00 grant to the Fox needs to be reviewed by the City Council based on
the previous year's budget. A marketing study and an architectural study
have been done and both reports need to be formulated into reports for the
City Council. The Task Force had a very wide-spread discussion about the
$15,000 grant and it was finally decided to stay with the status-quo, which
means the $15,000 goes to the Fox and the leftover can be used by the Civic
Cultural Commission. T'he architectural study is a grand plan and the study
needs to be brought into a more realistic approach and there are some
concerns on scoping down the project due to the costs involved. The Task
Force would like to hold a public meeting on March 29 or April 12 at the Fox
Theater and the architect would make a presentation. All information from
the meeting would be presented in a report to the City Council.
Chairperson Filippi felt the Commission has done a great job with the
$15,000.00 for the Fox Theater Grant Program but does not like the fact that
the Commission has to put the entire funding into one venue. He stated he
was concerned about protocol and policy regarding this matter.
Commissioner Ball felt the program should remain as is but there should be a
review of the program in 1996 to make changes.
