M/S Filippi/ Distefano: To send a letter to Mike Church requesting a copy of
the written guidelines for funding for Redevelopment
usage.
Commissioner Fischer said she was concerned about creating high
expectations to the school principals when the Cultural Commission does not
have sufficient funding for the ballet program.
Motion passed.
The following items were taken out of order:
ITEM 13- EVALUATION OR DISCUSSION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD
DURING THE PAST 30 DAYS
Commissioner Piulle and John Holt explained about the situation at the
concert at Paragon Point and the problem with selling food from the Optimist
hot dog cart during the event. Supervisor Hannon explained that the
Optimist concession permit is only good for concerts in Redwood City parks
and cannot be used on private property.
John Holt offered the Carrington Hall Committee booth space at the Climate
Best Fest for its funding program. He asked the Commission if he could use
the Commission banner and the old staging for the event; the
Commissioners agreed to grant use of the banner and the Department will
deal with the staging request.
Returning to Item 7:
Commissioner Saye reported he attended the recent champagne reception for
the ballet company.
ITEM 8-WORKPLAN OBJECTIVES DISCUSSION
Superintendent Hartman gave the Commissioners a draft of the budget and
other proposed objectives for FY95-96 for their review and comments. The
Commissioners discussed the draft and made a few changes to the document.
Superintendent Hartman said the workplan objectives will be presented by
each board and commission during a City Council meeting in October.
M/S Fischer/Distefano: To accept the workplan objectives and to move
Item #4 to Item #1 under "Budget Objectives".
Motion amended Fischer/Distefano: To also change the wording on Item #1
under "Other Objectives".
Motion passed.
