This matter will be <br /> placed on the September agenda. <br /> ITEM 13 -EVALUATION OR DISCUSSION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD <br /> DURING THE PAST 30 DAYS <br /> -Commissioner Saye attended the Peninsula Civic Light Opera production of <br /> "Meet Me in St. Louis" and said it was a remarkable performance. <br /> -Commissioner Ball attended the same performance and said it was excellent <br /> and was filled to capacity. She received a letter from Anna Eschoo regarding <br /> support for continued funding for PBS. She also attended a fundraiser by the <br /> Peninsula Social Club recently and stated it made $94,000.00 in 3 days. The <br /> event consisted of opera, line dancing, band performances, and excellent food. <br /> -Commissioner Piulle announced she has joined the board of the San Mateo <br /> County Arts Council. She noted the annual report of the San Mateo County <br /> Arts Council mentions the Redwood City Civic Cultural Commission several <br /> times. She stated that Douglass Hall has been saved and explained how it was <br /> done. Commissioner Piulle thanked the Distefano's for the picture of the art <br /> contest winners for the time capsule. <br /> -Commissioner Filippi reported on a concert at Stanford and said it was <br /> excellent. He congratulated Commissioner Piulle on being elected to the <br /> board of the Art Council. He announced he will be attending the Stanford <br /> Jazz Workshop and that the performances are open to the public. He said PBS <br /> in Los Angeles is looking at Redwood City as a site for a film segment about <br /> arches in California. <br />
