ITEM 7-PERCENT FOR PUBLIC ART POLICY Commissioner Saye reported that he and Commissioner Ball met and developed a draft policy for Percent for Public Art and attached information about what other cities have adopted on this subject. It was mentioned that we need to make a formal report to City Council and not just send a letter from the Commission. Superintendent Hartman said the information was gathered by Commissioner Piulle several years ago and that it needs to be updated before we go to City Council. Commissioner Filippi felt the proposal should also include several scenarios using existing and future City structures using 1/2°l0, l°10, 2°/o figures. Superintendent Hartman suggested developing a survey which would be sent to local cities and she volunteered to help the sub-committee in developing the survey. M/S Piulle/ : To continue to work on the percent for public art policy. Motion was withdrawn due to lack of a second. ITEM 9-FOCUS 96/COMMISSION WORKPLAN Chairperson Redington will work on the end of the year report for the City Council. Commissioner Filippi explained the "All for One Program" he has developed. The program involves getting docents to help with various programs for children. He would like to discuss this matter at the February meeting and is hoping to get the Commission's endorsement and then go to City Council for approval. ITEM 10 -ARTS STAR AWARDS Commissioner Piulle announced the Arts Star Awards program will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at the Clarion Hotel in Millbrae and tickets are $27.50 each. She suggested that the Mayor be invited to attend along with the Commissioners and staff. The Commissioner discussed possible nominees for the awards. M/S Piulle/Saye: To nominate the Redwood City Art Center under the arts organization category. Motion passed. Commissioner Piulle will work on the preparation of the nomination form. M/S Piulle/Ball: To nominate Pat Nugent under the outstanding arts volunteer category. Motion passed. Commissioners Ball and Filippi will work on preparation of this nomiation.
