^ Civic Cultural Commission Page S
Minutes of October 3, 1996
Chairperson Piulle said Ms. Webber has already changed one of the figures to
a child as a result of comments she had received. The Commissioners
discussed the color and flow of the design and several of the Commissioners
felt there should be more children represented in the art work. Vice
Chairperson Filippi said he feels this needs to be discussed further and that he
did not feel comfortable making an approval decision on behalf of the
Commission.
M/S Saye/Ball: To proceed with the art work with the Commission's
comments to be forwarded to the artist and to let her use them as
her guide.
Roll Call Vote:
Yes: Piulle, Filippi, Ball, Redington, Saye (5)
No: Britschgi, Distefano (2)
Motion passed.
Chairperson Piulle said she will work the artist and forward all comments
received this evening. Vice Chairperson Filippi said he felt the Commission
should wait to see the revised cartoon and that the Park and Recreation
Commission should also review the revision.
M/S Filippi/Distefano: To rescind the last motion.
Roll Call Vote:
Yes: Filippi, Ball, Britschgi, Distefano, Redington (5)
No: Piulle, Saye (2)
Motion passed.
M/S Filippi/Distefano: To revise the cartoon to reflect all public
comments received on the art work.
Park and Recreation Commissioner Davis said he did not want to delay the
process or installation of the art work. Chairperson Piulle felt that in order to
incorporate all the comments received and produce a revised cartoon that the
art work would not be ready for the one year anniversary celebration for the
Red Morton Center in January.
Roll Call Vote:
Yes: Filippi, Ball, Britschgi, Distefano, Redington (5)
No: Piulle, Saye (2)
Motion passed.
Chairperson Piulle will send all the information to the artist and ask that the
cartoon be here before the November meeting.
