the school is a Chapter 1 school, the fees drops to $50.00. Ms. Weiher said the mission statement of Music for Minors is "to nurture in children a lifelong love of music". The minimum commitment is to go into classrooms at least once a week for a half hour and she stated that many docents volunteer in more than one classroom. Commissioner Filippi suggested the Commission consider funding this program for the Redwood City School District to some extent. Ms. Weiher stated the Music for Minors Board of Directors are trying to make this program more successful and to get more people involved and are struggling with ways to accomplish this. They also recognize that the time commitment for a docent is extensive. Commissioner Piulle suggested organizing a sub-committee to further explore this subject. ITEM 5 -CARRINGTON HALL REPORT Commissioner Distefano said Steve Penna reported to her the project is going well and he will come to the March meeting to report on the progress. ITEM 6-CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE ARTS UPDATE Commissioner Filippi reported the talent show is scheduled for March 22 and March 29. He provided copies of the McKinley Messenger newspaper and announced that John Gill School will have a column in the publication. Commissioner Distefano complimented McKinley School on the exceptional layout job they did on their newspaper. ITEM 7- 1996 CHRISTMAS CONCERT Commissioner Ball suggested getting Carrington Hall as a location for a Christmas concert and possibily getting Pat Nugent to work with the Commission on this project. Commissioner Saye volunteered to be involved in the project. Commissioner Filippi suggested getting a small group of performers from the Peninsula Symphony to perform with a dance troupe and singing groups. M/S Piulle/Ball: To form a sub-committee to work on a Christmas concert. Motion passed. Commissioners Saye, Ball and Filippi will work on the sub-committee. ITEM 8 - ARTS STAR AWARDS It was announced that the date for the Arts Star Awards has been changed to Tuesday, March 26 at the Green Hilis Country Club in Millbrae. Commissioners Filippi, Ball, Saye, Distefano and Piulle will be attending.
