ITEM 5- CARRINGTON HALL SPECIAL MEETING (5-22-96) The Subcommittee for Carrington Hall will be Commissioners Filippi, Saye and Distefano. Commissioner Filippi requested that a letter be sent to all Boards and Commissions announcing the meeting. Superintendent Hartman indicated that the meeting needs to be a special Cultural Commission meeting for the purpose of hearing the structural report from DES on Carrington Hall. Steve Penna is putting together the agenda which will essentially be the Carrington Hall Committee Presentation with a report from DES. Commissioner Distefano read a fax regarding a fire that had been discovered at Carrington Hall. Apparently the fire sprinklers saved the Hall from any serious damage. ITEM 6- SUMMER CONCERTS Commissioner Filippi displayed a chart indicating possible dates and band choices for the series. He has confirmed the Air Force Band for August 7. The Port Commission had requested consideration for a concert to be held at the Port. Since the Port Commission has generously agreed to fund the series in the amount of $5200, the Cultural Commission will talk with them further to see what times and dates and band can be worked out. M/S Redington/Fischer: To give Supervisor julie Hannon approval with the help of the Concert Subcommittee to work with revising the proposed schedule to try to provide a concert at the Port in August. Motion carried. M/S Fischer/Ball: To accept what the Subcommittee has recommended for the concert series for 1996. Motion carried. ITEM 7-ART CONTEST All Commissioners completed their judging, winners have been selected, and pictures are being framed and sent to the library for hanging during April and May. Discussion was held about whether to have a second meeting in June so the Award Ceremony could be separate from the regular Commission meeting. It was decided to convene the meeting on june 6, have Roll Call only and go right into the awards, allowing an hour for the presentation and refreshments, and then to reconvene for a short meeting. Barbara Britschgi suggested that it might be possible to also hang the pictures at the R.C. Art Center.
