Civic Cultural Co»unission Page 6 � ° <br /> Minutes of June 6, 1996 <br /> M/S Saye/Redington: To send a letter to David Irmer with a copy to Safeway <br /> congratulating him on the beautiful landscaping at <br /> newest entry corner at Sequoia Station. <br /> Motion was re-stated: <br /> M/S Saye/Redington: To send a thank you letter to David Irmer and one to <br /> Safeway congratulating them on the beautiful landscaping at the <br /> newest entry corner at Sequoia Station; the letter to Safeway <br /> should also introduce the Cultural Commission to Safeway and <br /> let them know of our interest in working with them on future <br /> projects. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> ITEM 13-EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD DURING THE <br /> PAST 30 DAYS <br /> -Commissioner Fischer said she attended Rosine Bena's magnificent dance <br /> program held at Carlmont High School on June 1. She was impressed with <br /> the attendance and hoped the Commissioners would be able to attend her <br /> June 7 performance at the Senior Center. Commissioner Fischer said she also <br /> attended the "Kitty Cat Picnic" held by the Intergenerational Program and <br /> read a poem the children had read at the event. She mentioned #he <br /> Intergenerational Program was also honored with a luncheon. <br /> Comnlissioner Fischer also received a thank you from Pam Thornberg for her <br /> work with John Gill School. <br /> -Commissioner Redington said he enjoyed his work as a member of the <br /> juried art selection committee for the Library. He attended the Memorial Day <br /> services held at Union Cemetery. He announced he is a member of the 1996 <br /> Mayor's Beautification Awards Selection Committee. <br /> -Commissioner Distefano mentioned the beautiful art work on display in the <br /> main corridor in the Hall of Justice. <br /> -Commissioner Filippi brought pictures of the new learning mural which <br /> was painted on the blacktop at John Gill School. He mentioned he attended <br /> the phenomenal "Jazz on the Hill" program at College of San Mateo. He also <br /> saw a performance of Louie Belson and the Stanford Jazz Ensemble. <br /> Commissioner Filippi noted the Palo Alto Concert in the Parks series has <br /> business sponsors for each of their concerts and said the Commission may <br /> want to consider obtaining sponsors for our concert series. He announced the <br /> Salvaiion Army on Jefferson Avenue is offering music every Wednesday to <br /> the public. He noted the Intergenerational Program was mentioned on <br /> KCSM recently by a member of the San Mateo County Board of Trustees who <br />
