Civic Cultural Commission Page 4 <br /> Minutes of July 11, 1996 <br /> -Red Morton Center Art <br /> The request to purchase the Red Morton Center art work will be going to City <br /> Council on July 29 or August 12. <br /> -Families Arts Day <br /> Manager Hannon reported there will be 11 artists booths and one storytelling <br /> booth at Families Arts Day on Saturday, July 27. The flyers have been <br /> delivered to Target and will be given to the public very soon. <br /> -Mural Guidelines <br /> The mural guidelines v:ere approved by the City Council with amendments. <br /> Chairperson Piulle thanked the Mural Guidelines Sub-Committee (Piulle and <br /> Distefano) for their work and the announced the sub-committee is now <br /> disbanded due to the completion of the project. <br /> -Budget <br /> The City Council approved the Civic Cultural Commission budget and the <br /> budget for the entire department. There were no service level reductions and <br /> fee increases in building permits would be considered to deal with the <br /> anticipated shortfall in FY97-98. <br /> It was mentioned that the Percent for Public Art Sub-Committee should meet <br /> to discuss this matter. <br /> ITEM 4-REVIEW OF GRANT GUIDELINES <br /> Chairperson Piulle recommended that if a person or organization does not <br /> fill out their grant application properly that staff have them correct it before it <br /> comes before the Commission. Chairperson Piulle asked the Commissioners <br /> to contact her with any proposed changes to the Grant Guidelines prior to the <br /> next meeting. <br /> ITEM 2-SISTER CITY INTERNATIONAL PROPOSAL FOR PUBLIC ART AT <br /> THE NEW CITY HALL <br /> Superintendent Centeno stated Redwood City International has approached <br /> our Sister City in Zhuhai, China for a piece of artwork for the new City Hall. <br /> The Commissioners were given a handout about the proposed fisherwoman <br /> statue and its placement within the City Hall grounds. She reported Zhuhai <br /> is looking at this proposal which will cost approximately $50,000.00. Redwood <br /> City Intemational will probably come back to the Commission in August. <br />
