Civic Cultural Commission page 3 <br /> Minutes of August 1, 1996 <br /> The Commissioners requested that changes be made to the funding <br /> guidelines as follows: <br /> Item 10 - Add "Please answer all questions in the order given." <br /> Item 6 - Add "Non-compliance with this requirement may jeopardize future <br /> funding." <br /> -Marketing Plan <br /> Chairperson Piulle told the Commissioners to let her know of any groups <br /> they would like included in the Commission's marketing mailing. A list is <br /> already in place and will be used to mail a cover letter and grant request to <br /> interested groups or organizzhons. She asked for a list of names and phone <br /> numbers of Redwood City venues to be provided to the Commissioners. The <br /> list will include Carrington Hall, Canada College, Veterans Memorial Senior <br /> Center, and the Fox Theater. <br /> The following items were taken out of order: <br /> ITEM 6-UPDATES <br /> -Library Programs <br /> Supervisor Celia LaRi�tiere reviewed a list of Library activities for August <br /> (attached) with the Commissioners. She noted that Project Read is in need of <br /> additional tutors and will offer training in September. Currently there is a <br /> one year waiting period for learners for Project Read. The Project Read BBQ <br /> will be held Saturday, August 10 at the Community Activities Building and <br /> the Commissioners were all invited to attend. <br /> -Summer Concert Series <br /> The Commissioners discussed the concert on July 31 at Stafford Park. <br /> Supervisor Hannon mentioned since ��e are not paying for the Air Force <br /> Band on August 7, dinner will be provided for the band at Red Morton Center <br /> after their concert. The Commissioners were invited to have dinner with the <br /> band and were requested to contact Supervisor Hannon with their dinner <br /> order prior to the concert. Commissioner Ball suggested developing a formal <br /> program to follow at each concert which would include introductions, <br /> opening remarks, intermission and closing remarks. The program would be <br /> placed on a clipboard for the Commissioner hosting the concert. A draft <br /> program was given to staff. It was noted that the concert at the Port was <br /> poorly attended just as in previous years. <br /> -Red Morton Center Art <br /> The,purchase of the art work for Red Morton Center was approved by City <br /> Council on July 29, 1996. <br />
