Commission Page 5 Minutes of February 6, 1997 It was noted that the City Council Facilities Committee also agrees with the Commission that we should wait until the building is completed before selecting art. -Red Morton Art Opening The celebration will be held on Saturday, March 1 from 2:00-4:OOpm. Refreshments will be served; estimated cost will be $100.00. Spotlights will be turned on at the opening. The Commissioners discussed adding this event to the Chamber of Commerce Hotline and Commissioner Ball will follow up on this item. M/S Filippi/Distefano: To officially disband the Red Morton Art Opening sub-committee on March 2, 1997. Motion passed unanimously. -Summer Concerts '97/Port Concert Development The Commissioners reviewed the 1997 Summer Concert Series schedule. The Concert sub-committee will work with the Port on the Port Concert and they will also have to deal with funding. ITEM 8-FOCUS 96-97 -All for One Program This is a common theme for all the Commissions to get behind. It was suggested to produce an "End of the Year Report" of the activities of all board and commissions with descriptions to hand out to real estate agents. M/S Filippi/Distefano: To form a sub-committee to begin putting together information for the Cultural Corner item in "Connections". Motion passed. Commissioner Filippi will contact Connections Editor Chris Primesberger regarding a "Cultural Corner" for the publication. M/S Filippi/Redington: To send a letter to the Port to thank them for their continuous support of music and to advise them they will receive certificates at the June awards presentation. Motion passed. M/S Filippi/Saye: To award the principals and teachers at John Gill, McKinley and Sequoia Schools involved in the 'Tis the Season performing arts musical and invite them to the June awards presentation. Motion passed.
