Commission Page 5 <br /> Minutes of February 6, 1997 <br /> It was noted that the City Council Facilities Committee also agrees with the <br /> Commission that we should wait until the building is completed before <br /> selecting art. <br /> -Red Morton Art Opening <br /> The celebration will be held on Saturday, March 1 from 2:00-4:OOpm. <br /> Refreshments will be served; estimated cost will be $100.00. Spotlights will be <br /> turned on at the opening. <br /> The Commissioners discussed adding this event to the Chamber of <br /> Commerce Hotline and Commissioner Ball will follow up on this item. <br /> M/S Filippi/Distefano: To officially disband the Red Morton Art Opening <br /> sub-committee on March 2, 1997. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> -Summer Concerts '97/Port Concert Development <br /> The Commissioners reviewed the 1997 Summer Concert Series schedule. <br /> The Concert sub-committee will work with the Port on the Port Concert and <br /> they will also have to deal with funding. <br /> ITEM 8-FOCUS 96-97 <br /> -All for One Program <br /> This is a common theme for all the Commissions to get behind. It was <br /> suggested to produce an "End of the Year Report" of the activities of all board <br /> and commissions with descriptions to hand out to real estate agents. <br /> M/S Filippi/Distefano: To form a sub-committee to begin putting together <br /> information for the Cultural Corner item in "Connections". <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Commissioner Filippi will contact Connections Editor Chris Primesberger <br /> regarding a "Cultural Corner" for the publication. <br /> M/S Filippi/Redington: To send a letter to the Port to thank them for their <br /> continuous support of music and to advise them they will receive <br /> certificates at the June awards presentation. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Filippi/Saye: To award the principals and teachers at John Gill, <br /> McKinley and Sequoia Schools involved in the 'Tis the Season <br /> performing arts musical and invite them to the June awards <br /> presentation. <br /> Motion passed. <br />
