Civic Cultural Commission page 4 <br /> Minutes of March 6, /997 <br /> =Tis the Season <br /> A planning meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:30pm at the <br /> Veterans Memorial Senior Center Annex, 711 Nevada Street in Room 2. <br /> Commissioner Filippi said he has spoken with Vice Mayor Howard about <br /> involving the Pride and Beautification Committee in the program and <br /> offering a contest for the best holiday decorated home and business in <br /> Redwood City. <br /> -PACTAC <br /> Commissioner Filippi announced that PACTAC has been disbanded after two <br /> years of work. He mentioned that at the last PACTAC meeting, they were <br /> advised that next year McKinley will become a GATE school for grades 3-8 <br /> and that it will be "by application only" for students and teachers. <br /> Commissioner Piulle said the original idea was to have John Gill students <br /> continue onto McKinley Middle School and then Sequoia High School with a <br /> continued focus on the performing arts. She mentioned that Pat Nugent did <br /> a wonderful job and is a valuable resource in our community, and she was <br /> disappointed that PACTAC did not work out. <br /> M/S Filippi/Redington: To disband the PACTAC sub-committee. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> -Publicity <br /> The Commissioners discussed the successful Red Morton Anniversary <br /> Celebration/Tapestry dedication on March 1. Commissioner Redington <br /> commended Commissioner Distefano on the fine article which appeared in <br /> the Redwood City Almanac about the new art work. <br /> The Commissioners discussed the Chamber of Commerce Hotline and the <br /> limited space on their recording for announcements of community events. <br /> Commissioner Distefano will follow-up with the Chamber and report back at <br /> our next meeting. The Publicity Sub-Committee was provided with a copy of <br /> a media packet which was developed by Pat Nugent. <br /> Chairperson Ball congratulated Commissioner Piulle for all her work on the <br /> art tapestry project for the Red Morton Center. <br /> -Summer Concerts <br /> Commissioner Filippi reported that the banners have been ordered, the <br /> department's hotline number has been placed on the banners, and the bands <br /> are in place. He also requested that the concert flyers be re-designed to match <br /> the look of the banners. <br /> Commissioner Filippi discussed the Port's 60th Anniversary event which has <br /> been set for September 20-21 and will coincide with the Climate Best Fest.
