Civic Cu/turul Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes o�'April 3, 1997 <br /> The Commissioners spoke to the request; those not supportive felt that four <br /> events would not be enough to change the ambiance of the Farmers Market. <br /> Role Call Vote: 4-yes (Ball, Britschgi, Redington, Saye) <br /> 2-no (Filippi, Distefano) <br /> Motion passed. <br /> -Sequoia Art Group <br /> David McClure spoke regarding the Sequoia Art Group's request for funding <br /> support for cash prizes for the awards show to be held on May 17 and 18. <br /> M/S Filippi/Distefano: To approve the grant request of $200.00 to <br /> the Sequoia Art Group. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> -Raices de Mexico <br /> Matias Varela gave an oral presentation on the grant request for Raices de <br /> Mexico. <br /> M/S Redington/Saye: To grant $1,500.00 to Raices de Mexico to support their <br /> performances at Carrington Hall. <br /> Motion amended Redington/Saye: To grant $1,200.00 to Raices de Mexico. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> � <br /> Several ideas for publicity were shared with Mr. Varela. <br /> ITEM 5-ELEMENTARY ART CONCERT <br /> Commissioner Filippi presented x-ray art done by John Gill students and <br /> requested the children receive a certificate of acknowledgment. A total of <br /> eleven students from two 2nd and 5th grade classes participated. <br /> M/S Redington/Saye: To recognize students doing x-ray art with a certificate <br /> at the June meeting. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> ITEM 6-SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Publicity <br /> Commissioner Distefano reported she sent information for the City <br /> newsletter to Chris Primesburger including a list of concerts and grants made <br /> over the past fiscal year.
