Civic Cultural Commission page 4 <br /> Minutes of April 3, 1997 <br /> was paid for by the Redevelopment Agency and reported that the next <br /> meeting of the Downtown Merchants will be held on April 11 at 7:30am and <br /> again at 7:30pm at the Courthouse Coffee Shop. <br /> -'Tis the Season <br /> Commissioner Filippi reported that letters were sent to new participants and <br /> the founding members inviting participation in an organizational meeting <br /> on May 13 at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center Annex, 711 Nevada <br /> Street. He noted that additional funding may be needed for this year's <br /> program. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Redington said there was nothing to report on the Arguello <br /> bust relocation. Commissioner Piulle will be investigating how to remove <br /> the damage to the Arguello sculpture. <br /> -Summer Concerts <br /> Commissioner Filippi reported the Summer Concert series is in place and he <br /> distributed a draft flyer and brochure advertisement. <br /> Commissioner Filippi reported on the plans for the 60th anniversary <br /> celebration for the Port. He proposed two alternatives for the event: <br /> 1.) Use the Navy Band from San Diego $2,566.00 <br /> Two-3 hour concerts, Friday & Saturday in September <br /> Studio S Dancers $200 <br /> Foster City Big Band (for 2 hours) $700 <br /> Total $3,800* <br /> *All contingent on obtaining free hotel lodging for Navy Band <br /> (The Villa Hotel has been contacted regarding this request.) <br /> 2.) Max Bujan Big Band $1,600 <br /> Foster City Big Band $700 <br /> Studio S Dancers $200 <br /> Total $2,500 <br /> Commissioner Filippi explained that Port will be publicizing the events. <br /> Chairperson Ball described other activities that will take place during the 60th <br /> celebration. The Commissioners requested a copy of the total budget for the <br /> 60th anniversary event; staff will request this information from the Port. <br /> The Commissioners expressed their thoughts on the two proposals. <br /> M/S Distefano/Redington: Given the special significance of the Port's 60th <br /> Anniversary, to approve up to $3,800.00 for the Navy Band to perform <br /> at the celebration contingent on free lodging at the Villa for the band. <br />
