Commission Page S <br /> Minutes of June S, 1997 <br /> =Tis the Season <br /> Chairperson Ball stated that Commissioner Saye did not receive the packet for <br /> the May 13 meeting and apologized for the oversight. She requested that a <br /> revised Sub-Committee list be distributed. Chairperson Ball reported that 20 <br /> people participated in the May 13 meeting and noted that the Optimists and <br /> the Peninsula Celebration Association will do the parade which will include <br /> Santa Claus on a float. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Superintendent Centeno reported on Commissioner Piulle's discussion with <br /> the artist as to how to repair the Arguello statue. Commissioner Saye <br /> reported on the current status of the Arguello statue and will discuss further <br /> at the July meeting. <br /> -Summer Concerts <br /> Manager Julie Hannon reported the concert banners will go up this weekend <br /> and the concerts are ready to go. Commissioners Saye and Redington asked <br /> for larger copies of the flyers to post in store windows. <br /> -Banner Policy <br /> Commissioner Saye spoke about the overuse of the Sequoia High School <br /> fence for banners and the availability of the three sides of the clocktower for <br /> hanging banners. No banner policy report has yet been developed for City <br /> Council. <br /> -Special Art Events <br /> This item was deferred to the July meeting. <br /> ITEM 4 -FOCUS 96-97 <br /> Superintendent Centeno reviewed materials she developed categorizing <br /> Commission expenditures for FY96-97 and spoke about several options for <br /> dealing with grant requests including the Housing and Human Concerns <br /> Committee model. Chairperson Ball formed a Budget Sub-committee <br /> consisting of herself and Commissioners Distefano and Saye to look at this <br /> model and the 1998-2000 budget. <br /> ITEM 5-EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD DURING THE <br /> PAST 30 DAYS <br /> -Commissioner Distefano reported on the John Gill Program held on June 4; <br /> Public Safety Day on June 1; and the Selby Lane School Read-a-Long by City <br /> Council members. She announced she was chosen as a Parade Marshall for <br /> the 4th of July Parade. <br />
