Minutes of the Civic Cu/tura/Commission Page 3 <br /> Thursday, November 5, 1998 <br /> Tis the Season Committee— Loretta Knight <br /> Ms. Knight spoke regarding her request for$1,800 to support advertising of the <br /> Tis the Season events including flyers, posters, and use of the newspapers as <br /> well as a banner on the fence of Sequoia High School. She spoke regarding <br /> their solicitation of business support and donations from Sequoia High School <br /> Alumni Association and Washington Mutual. She noted that the event was a <br /> means to develop community cohesiveness and to encourage the community to <br /> work together. <br /> Peninsula Ballet Theater— Rosine Bena <br /> Ms. Bena requested $1,500 in support of a Mini Nutcracker Production at <br /> Sequoia High School Camngton Hall as part of the Tis the Season Program. <br /> The evening will also include the Ragazzi Boys Chon�s. Ms. Bena responded to <br /> questions including: whether tickets would be sold, the cost of tickets and the <br /> location for the event. <br /> -Tis the Season Advertising— Loretta Knight <br /> Ms. Knight spoke regarding her plans for advertising the many Tis the Season <br /> events via posters, flyers, a banner on Sequoia High School, SAMNET and the <br /> new PAX N. Her request of the Committee was for$1,800. <br /> Northstar Academy <br /> Robyn Alatorre, spoke to the Commission regarding her request for$999 to <br /> support the school's Multicultural Winter Holiday Production on December 4 and <br /> 5"'. She noted that the production was written by the students; will be advertised <br /> in the lndependent and that funding was needed to, in part, make up for the loss <br /> of a federal grant. <br /> �, . <br /> The Commission recessed at 8:28 p.m. The Vice Chairperson called the <br /> meeting back to order at 8:35 p.m. <br /> M/S Schenone/Pierce to grant the Peninsula Celebration Association $3,900 <br /> to cover expenses listed in their application from the CCC event budget. <br /> The motion passed with Don Saye abstaining. <br /> Bob Slusser of PCA thanked the Commission for their commitment to the event <br /> and indicated he might be able to retum some of the funding to the Commission <br /> if other fundraising was successful. <br /> M/S Pierce/Dale to approve $1,500 in support of the Tis the Season Mini <br /> Nutcracker at Carrington Hall from the CCC event budget. The motion <br /> passed unanimously. <br /> M/S Schenone/Saye to grant $1,000, the minimum amount, for advertising <br /> for the Tis the Season Program. <br />
