Civic Cultural Commission Page 3 <br /> ° Minutes of September 2, 1999 <br /> ITEM 2 — SMALL GRANT REaUESTS <br /> -Sequaia Art Group <br /> Dave McClure of the Sequoia Art Group spoke regarding their grant request <br /> for the Spring Art Show, which wilt be held on May 16 and 17, 2000. The <br /> grant will provide cash awards for art show winners. <br /> M/S Saye/Britschgi: To grant $425.00 to the Sequoia Art Group for their <br /> Spring Art Show to be held in May 2000. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 3 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> Commissioner Del Carlo reported the sub-committee will work with the <br /> Pubtic Art committee to bring a recommendation for allocation of unspent <br /> dollars to a public art purchase trust. <br /> -Children and Schools <br /> Commissioner Schenone reported a meeting wili be scheduled. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi suggested coordination with the Federated Women's <br /> Club art contest. <br /> -CCC Sponsored Events <br /> Commissioner Del Carlo reported on the six (6) concerts held this summer. <br /> At the last concert held on Septemberl, Council members and <br /> Commissioners performed in two numbers. A survey on the concerts was <br /> taken that evening. Results will be available next month. <br /> -Planning <br /> Commissioner Pierce distributed a copy of results of Cultural Services <br /> Questionnaire. She reported on a variety of programs in other cities and how <br /> they are funded. Commissioner Saye will provide his notes to Commissioner <br /> Pierce from additional cities. Commissioner Dale raised the issue of per <br /> capita spending. Park and Recreation Commissioner Susan Swope thought <br /> that the California Confederation of the Arts or California Arts Council may <br /> have per capita spending data. The sub-committee will meet to formalize a <br /> recommendation to the fuli Commission. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Britschgi spoke regarding the ArtShare "Sound Off III" to be <br /> held at San Mateo City Hall on September 25. Commissioner Schenone will <br /> assist with the display needed. Commissioner Britschgi distributed copies of <br /> the City's Art Inventory to the Commissioners. She will meet with Budget <br /> sub-committee regarding public art recommendations. <br /> The Commission accepted an Otis Carrington painting of redwoods as a gift <br /> from his local family. <br /> M/S Saye/Del Carlo: To accept the painting by Qtis Carrington. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> A ietter of thanks will be sent with information provided by Commissioner <br /> Britschgi. <br />
