Civic Cultura/Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of January 6, 2000 <br /> M/'� Dale/Britschgi: To recommend #hat we explore putting together - <br /> a brochure that is a walking tour of public art availabie in City Hali <br /> and support enhaA�r�en#s to�exis�ing ga�lery-space including <br /> additionai ligh�ing and signage in the lobby. <br /> Motion passed unanimousty. _ _ . <br /> Mr. Frisch of Redwood City Internationai spoke regarding his support for the <br /> placement of the ship on the first floor. <br /> ITEM 2 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget - <br /> Commissioner Del Carlo noted that the sub-committee had no new <br /> information to report. � <br /> -Chiidren and Schoois, Approvai of Art Contest Theme <br /> M/S Dale/Schenone: To a�dopt "My Favorite Vacation Reai or <br /> Imagined" as this year's contest theme. <br /> Motion passed unanimousiy. <br /> -CCC Sponsored Events <br /> Commissioner Dei Carlo reported on the Tis the Season event and presented <br /> the Commission with a Certificate of Appreciation for their support from the <br /> ° organizing committee. She noted that the fireworks were spectacular, but <br /> that spaces between the parade events were too long. A critique meeting is <br /> pianned for the second week in .lanuary. Commissioner Schenone asked that <br /> the idea of sponsorships for schoois be discussed. She had understood that <br /> sponsorships were available but they did not materialize. <br /> A memo summarizing the decisions the sub-committee needs to bring back <br /> to the Commission regarding the summer concert series was presented to <br /> the Commission. The sub-committee wili meet in the interim to develop <br /> recommendations. Chairperson Redington asked staff to contact the Port of <br /> Redwood City regarding their financiai support of the event. <br /> -Pianning <br /> f�o report. <br /> -Pubiic Art <br /> Commissioner Britschgi noted that she had not been abie to set up a meeting <br /> with the develaper of a Veterans Boulevard building regarding the inclusion of <br /> public art. <br />
