�� <br /> Minutes of the Civic Cultura/Commission Page 4 <br /> Thursday, May 4, 2000 <br /> M!S Dale/Schenone: To award $2,500 to the Digitai Art Program at Stanford <br /> to develop two themes for pubiic dispiay in Redwood City. <br /> Motion passed unanimousiy. <br /> M/S Dale/Dei Carlo: To select both the historical and youth and seniors <br /> theme for development by the students. <br /> Motion passed unanimousiy. <br /> Professor Niemeyer was asked to contact staff for the development of a contract <br /> for funding the program. <br /> ITEM 2 - GRANT REQUESTS <br /> Youth and Teen Services Manager Julie Hannon presented the grant request <br /> from the Youth Advisory Board for$900 to pay for teen bands. The Youth <br /> Advisory Board in conjunction with the Police Activities League and the <br /> DepartmenYs Youth and Teen Unit is sponsoring its first "Street Party". The <br /> event will be held in the parking lot behind the Police Activities Building on the <br /> evening of Saturday, May 13. <br /> M/S Dei Carlo/Schenone: To approve the grant request of$900 for the <br /> Youth Advisory Board "Street Parly" event. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 4 - SUB COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget, Del Carlo <br /> Packets with the large grant requests of$1,000 or more will be mailed to each <br /> Commissioner on May 8. Superintendent Centeno reported that she has been in <br /> contact with the Finance Director regarding how best to establish a Public Art <br /> Fund with leftover funds from this year. He indicated that general fund monies <br /> cannot be rolled over since the appropriation goes away at the end of the fiscal <br /> year. He suggested the creation of a capital account since the life of these <br /> accounts is the same as the project. A budget transfer request for$5,000 was <br /> submitted for inclusion in the Council budget adjustment process. The Finance <br /> Director has agreed to advise the Commission of the Council meeting date. <br /> -Children and Schools, Schenone <br /> Commissioner Schenone thanked staff for their work on the Art and Poetry <br /> Contest. She thought the trophies were an excellent choice. She agreed to <br /> bring the committee together in the near future to review this year's event and <br /> identify ways to improve it for next year. <br />
