Civic Cultural Commission Pege 4 w <br /> Minutes of June 7, 2001 <br /> spoke about this year's grant request which would fund two selected <br /> composers to write original compositions for the Symphony. Chairperson <br /> Britschgi asked Mr. Repenthal if the Symphony would consider performing in <br /> one of our parks on a Sunday afternoon as part of our Concerts in the Park <br /> series. Mr. Repenthal suggested that the Commission make a formal request <br /> to the Symphony to do their annual family concert in one of our parks. <br /> -San Mateo County Historical Association <br /> Kathy Heffernan thanked the Commission for its previous support and spoke <br /> about the group's grant request to help fund a video production which will be <br /> viewed by students before they come to the museum to tour"Nature's <br /> Bounty". The Association will be using Tucker Productions to produce the <br /> video which will cost $20,000.00. Ms. Heffernan stated they would consider <br /> a lesser grant amount due to the Commission's budget constraints. <br /> =Tis the Season <br /> Bob Slusser spoke on behalf of the `Tis the Season and explained that the <br /> increase in their grant request amount is to pay for insurance required by the <br /> City for the parade. He stated that 25% of`Tis the Season's budget comes <br /> from outside donations. <br /> -Vintage Music Theatre <br /> No presentation made. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 9:17pm and was reconvened at 9:25pm. <br /> Commissioner Dale spoke about what the Commission has been asked to do <br /> with their budget; the number of funding requests received from the schools; <br /> the Commission having only $58,125 available in large grant funds and <br /> $64,100 requests from the schools alone; and that one of the Council's <br /> p�iorities is helping children. The Commissioners discussed the matter and <br /> felt that a letter to City Council explaining the Commission's grant request <br /> situation and requesting their assistance. Chairperson Britschgi and <br /> Commissioner Dale agreed to compose a letter to City Council. <br /> ITEM 3 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> Secretary Monroe explained that Redwood City Heritage Association has <br /> notified staff that they will be returning their grant of $999.00 because they <br /> could not use the funds by the June 30, 2001 deadline. The group will re- <br /> apply for a small grant in the Fall 2001 to fund additional events. This will <br /> increase the ending balance to $2,416.01 in their FY00-01 budget which <br /> could be transferred into the Public Art fund. <br />
