The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council 4 4 3 <br />of the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 7th day of <br />June, by the following vote: <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing Resolution: <br />Councilmen: BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, HOLMQUIST, MORGAN, SPILLERS, SWIFT and Mayor WERDER. <br />NOES, Councilmen: NONE <br />ABSENT, Councilmen: NONE <br />W. DODGE <br />Clerk of the City of Redwood City <br />I hereby approve the foregoing Resolution this <br />23rd day of June, 1945. <br />W. M. WERDER <br />Mayor of the City of Redwood City <br />CITY MANAGER REPORTED THAT RECREATION COMMISSION HAD OPPORTUNITY TO BUY 50 METAL LOCKERS <br />from the Parelto High School in Fresno for 60% of the original cost which would <br />amount to $276.00, and claimed they were in need of lockers. Mayor Werder stated <br />this would come from bond money. City Manager Rolison said if agreeable they would <br />look at them, that Poole Transfer Company offered to bring them up from Fresno. <br />City Attorney Currie commented that these would be classed as capital investment. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved that if money is available and bonds are sold by the 15th <br />that they be purchased, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />AN ORDINANCE CHANGING CERTAIN STREET NAMES in the City of Redwood City was introduced <br />on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />1. Hampton Court & Louisiana Street changed to Hampton Avenue <br />2. Hampton Way to McNulty Way <br />3. Hampton Lane to Ryan Lane <br />. Halsey Avenue to McGarvey Avenue <br />RESOLUTION No. 553. Councilman Granger offered Resolution and moved its adoption desig- <br />nating June 19th, 1948, as an appropriate day to commence the wearing of early <br />California or western costumes and declaring this as "Dress -up Day", seconded by <br />Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />RESOLUTION No. 553 <br />DESIGNATING JUNE 199 1945 AS "DRESS -UP DAY" <br />WHEREAS in the year 1939 the Redwood City Rodeo was established as a permanent <br />annual event and has since continued yearly with the exception of war conditions <br />necessitating the omission of the rodeo features during a portion of the war years, <br />!" from 1942 to 1945; and <br />WHEREAS the Peninsula Celebration Association is now planning for an outstanding <br />Fourth of July celebration, rodeo and horse show, on July 3, 4 and 5; and <br />WHEREAS, 1n the interests of publicity for this outstanding event, June 19th, <br />has been selected as an appropriate day to commence the wearing of early California <br />or western costumes, which costumes are to worn from that day through the last day <br />of the celebration; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Honorable William M. Werder, as Mayor <br />6, of the City of Redwood City, issue a proclamation declaring and designating June 19, <br />194e as "Dress -up Day", and calling upon all citizens of Redwood City to wear appro- <br />priate early California or western costumes; and further, to solicit the aid, sup- <br />port and cooperation of all of the citizens of our community to the end that this <br />celebration may be the most successful ever. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular <br />meeting thereof held on the 7th day of June, 1945, by.the following vote: <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing Resolution: <br />Councilmen: BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, HOLMQUIST, MORGAN, SPILLERS, SWIFT and Mayor WERDER. <br />
