City <br />Attorney suggested that all amounts under $50 be filed in the Small Claims Court <br />by the City Collector and that he, himself, file suit to collect all those deemed <br />collectible amounts in excess of $50. Councilman Morgan moved approval of the City <br />Attorney's recommendation, seconded by,Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />CITY COLLECTOR PERRIN SUBMITTED A REQUEST FOR THE CONCELLATION OF DELINQUENT TAXES <br />TOTALLING $7276.57. Assessments were against properties which were in the name of <br />the City of Redwood City and were located in the Recreation Center, consisting of <br />delinquent taxes, delinquent weed assessments, 1915 bond assessments, etc. A <br />balance of $7.b2 was an assessment against Arb. Block 230, Lot 16A, which was a <br />street and dedicated in October 194b. Councilman Morgan moved that inasmuch as <br />this was all city property that recommendation to cancel delinquent taxes be granted, <br />seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />A LETTER FROM THE SAN 14ATEO COUNTY UNION GAZETTE WAS READ ASKING THAT THE CITY ADVERTISE <br />IN THEIR ANNUAL LABOR DAY EDITION. Space of 3 columns S" or 2 columns x 12" could <br />be had for $35.00 or half- page tabloid size for $bO.00. Mayor Werder inquired if <br />this money had been allotted and if we advertised in this edition annually. City <br />Manager Rolison replied that he doubted if money was available. Councilman Britschgi <br />moved that this should be referred to the budget group for a report back to the <br />Council, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />TWO LETTERS WERE READ FROM THE NATIONAL MOTOR BEARING COMPANY IN REGARD TO THE REMOVAL <br />OF FENCE AND THE PAVING OF NATIONAL AVENUE TO BAYSHORE HIGHWAY. The first letter <br />of June 8th promised removal of the wire fence which enclosed a portion of Broadway <br />east of Chestnut Street, work to start after July 4th, and was to be completed <br />shortly thereafter. Councilman Britschgi moved that this communication be answered <br />thanking the National Motor Bearing Company for the courtesy of their reply, seconded <br />by Councilman Morgan, and carried. The second letter dated June 9th, requested <br />information on completion by the city of the contract with them which called the <br />paving of National Avenue to Bayshore Highway and that in view of the removal of the <br />fence as requested by the Council they would require this street as accessto their <br />property which lies between Broadway and National Avenue. Councilman Britschgi <br />inquired of City Manager Rolison if some work on abandonment of the street had been <br />completed. City Manager Rolison stated that this had been investigated to some <br />extent that it was a matter for the City Attorney to consider. Councilman Britschgi <br />moved that this be put on the agenda for the next regular meeting and that City <br />Attorney Currie report on the abandonment of the street, seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers. City Attorney stated he would like to check into the existing contract <br />in connection with the possibility of abandoning the street. Motion carried. <br />A PETITION WAS READ, SIGNED BY WILLIAM E. ROMAN, AND FIVE OTHER RESIDENTS REQUESTING <br />STREET ILLUMINATION IN THE LENOLT TRACT as it is over 50% built and state that this <br />has been called to the Council's attention several times during the past five years. <br />Question on this was referred to the Fire Chief Lodi who stated there were about <br />three lights in the area and about a dozen poles, and that a survey would have to <br />be made. City Manager Rolison offered to have a report of the survey to be read <br />at the next meeting. Mayor Werder suggested that a letter should be written to <br />the signer explaining that a report would be given at the next meetIn4 and assured <br />
