Subdivision of Lot 23 of Wooster, Whitton & Montgomery Subdivision, Redwood City, 457
California", which map was filed in the office of the County Recorder of San Mateo
County on April 9, 1915, in Book 9 of Flaps at page 32.
I hereby certify the foregoing to be a true copy of Resolution No. 590, adopted
by the City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st day of June, 1948,
at the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Redwood City, California.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of said city this
22nd day of June, 1948.
City Clerk of the City of Redwood City,
and Ex -Officio Clerk of the Council thereof.
CITY ATTORNEY ADVISED THAT WHEN THE COUNCIL ADJOURNED it should be to a fixed date, in
order that the budget should be effective at July lst. Mayor Werder suggested this
^ be at 3:30, June 30th, at the time for adjournment.
i.,. COUNCILtAAN ?MORGAN MOVED THAT THE PLANNING C012MISSION STUDY THE SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE AND
REPORT BACK TO THE COUNCIL at their convenience as this should be done to avoid
trouble which had occurred in the past. The motion received a second by Councilman
Holmquist, and carried.
INQUIRY WAS MADE BY COUNCILMAN I,IORGAN IN REGARD to shovels purchased in San Francisco as
he thought it would be better to patronize merchants in Redwood City, but he would
check further on the item.
COUNCILMAN GRANGER STATED THAT normally the Traffic and Safety Commission would not recom-
mend stop signals on streets crossing Brewster, Hopkins and Jefferson, but that
drivers who traveled these streets regularly regarded them as arterials and drove
accordingly, and that those who were not too familiar with the traffic on these
streets approached and crossed the respective streets with equal right-of-way.
Councilman Britschgi thought the traffic department might set up a speed limit or
erect slow signs. Mr. Spears suggested that another traffic problem should be con-
sidered: that of keeping traffic clear on Broadway at the foot of Arguello while
waiting for trains, so that those approaching Broadway 'Ifho 'wished to make left turn
on Broadway could do so as many cars had to wait thus increasing congestion at this
point nd delsying other motorists who did not wish to cross the tracks. It was
moved by C ouncilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Spillers that these problems
be referred to the Traffic and Safety Commission, and carried.
IN REGARD TO ALLOCATION OF AREAS ALLOZ^TED TAXI COAPANIES FOR CAB STAY -IDS, Councilman Granger
thought some of this space was no longer needed as the various tpxicabs belonged to
one company, except for one. Mayor Werder stated if there was no objection this would
be referred to the Traffic and Safety Commission for a report.
CO1TNCIL-1A'3 GRA,'GER SUGGESTED THAT THE Ai.IUSE:EIIT MACHINE ORDINAYuCE should be revised in
order that the City might receive more revenue from this source. City Attorney
advised that he had such an ordinance ready for adoption except for setting in of
figures. Mayor Werder suggested if satisfactory that the Business License Committee
study the situation and bring in figures.
COUNCILMAN GRAN1GER NOTED THE REPORT of fire in Tribune of this date and wondered if City
answered this call in Kensington Square. Fire Chief Lodi stated this was a border-
line fire and to protect City residents' property answered the call. The fire
was out before the County Fire Department arrived at the scene.
COUNCIL! -,IAN BRITSCHGI ASKED ABOUT THE $5000 which had been spent on Bros..dway No. 3 Improve-
ment Project. City Attorney and City Engineer discussed the matter and it was
suggested thRt they look into the matter further and report back at the first
