City Engineer Jain stated that substitute m,-terials in some instances had <br />to be used in order not to slow doi-,n the program. <br />� <br />COU14CILIMAA SPILLERS SUGGESED THAT TIIE T ATTER of removing a tree in Hawes Park be referred <br />-� <br />to the Park and Recreation Commission, as it would have to be moved eventually <br />when the bleachers would be erected. A limb had fallen off and it was considered <br />dangerous to the many children who played in the park. It was so moved by Council- <br />man Spillers, seconded by Councilman Morgan, that the matter be referred to the <br />Park and. Recreation Commission, and carried. <br />CLATLMS No's. 3800 to 3095 inclusive, having been checked in detail were submitted for <br />payment. Councilman Granger wished to know if money was provided by the budget for <br />a typewriter, claim No. 3827, for the City Assessor's office. Explanation could <br />not be made at the time as the City Assessor was ill and did not attend the meeting. <br />7twas moved by Councilman Granger that the claims be paid, except No. 3827, seconded <br />by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />CCU2dCIL1,IAN BRITSCHGI COMMENTED ON CROWDED CONDITION OF SOME OFFICES IN THE CITY HALL and <br />thought it might be necessary to give the Chamber of Commerce 60 or 90 days notice <br />Jf those rooms were needed. Discussion followed relative to the various departments <br />that had been shifted around when extra room was available after the Park and Recre- <br />ation office was moved to the Community Building. It was decided that the need <br />should be investigated, information secured as to policy in contributing to Chamber <br />of Commerce by other cities. <br />COUPICILIAFd GRANGER MOVED that the meeting adjourn until June 30th at 3:30 P. E. Holmquist, Floyd D. Granger, <br />Robert V. Spillers, A. V. Swift, Mayor Wm. iM. Werder and City Clerk Ralph S. Dodge. <br />Also present were: City :Manager E. A. Collins. <br />MAYOR WERDER EXPLAINED THE PURPOSE OF THE ADJOUVED MEETING WAS TO CONSIDER THE TENTATIVE <br />1948-+9 budget. City Manager Rolison stated that after a series of study meetings <br />the tentative budget was ready to be presented to the Council. He stated that the <br />budget totalling $747,097.88, included an amount to cover contemplated salary <br />increases.
