GEORGE EVA!aS APPEARED WITH A REQUEST TO RE -SUBDIVIDE Lots 51,52,53 and 54, Block 1, <br />461 <br />Roosevelt Oaks in three lots, it was disapproved b, the Planning Commission and so <br />recommended. Under Ordiance No. 600 the Planning Commission cannot a)prove lot sub- <br />divisions with less than 6,000 square feet in area for each lot. Councilman Morgan <br />moved that recommendation of the Planning Commission be upheld, seconded by Council- <br />man Swift, and carried. <br />A REQUEST FROM SAN MATEO COUNTY UNION GAZETTER FOR THE CITY TO SUBSCRIBE TO ADVERTISEMENT <br />in the annual Labor Day edition was denied on motion of Councilman Morgan, seconded <br />by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />SAM J. ADE, ROUTE 2, Box 3199 A, submitted application to operate a taxicab company in the <br />City of Redwood City. Under discussion the number of permits was discussed held by <br />the existing cab companies. Councilman Granger moved that the permit be granted. <br />City Attorney Currie wished two weeks in which to check into the provisions of the <br />ordinance and suggested this be carried on the agenda. Councilman Granger withdrew <br />his motion and moved that this be carried on the agenda, seconded by Councilman <br />Morgan, and carried. <br />CITY MANAGER ROLISON RECOMMENDED THE FOLLOWING TRANSFERS; City Auditor Brophy had advised <br />that the charges for June had overdrawn the following accounts and that corrections <br />could be made in the following manner: <br />Transfer from the Unbudgeted Reserve to <br />Planning Commission $ 4.72 <br />Clerk -Treasurer, Supplies & Services 2.00 <br />Police Judge, Capital Outlay 2.1 <br />Police Department Supplies & Services $11. 0 <br />Transfer from Police Department Capital Outlay, $300 and from Plice Department <br />Salary Account 031.00 to: <br />Police Department, Motor Vehicle 210.00 <br />Animal Shelter, Supplies & Services 1121.00 <br />Councilman Granger moved that transfers be granted, seconded by Councilman Spillers, <br />and carried. <br />MR. FRED MAGUIRE, NE6^T MEMBER OF PERSONNEL BOARD was sworn in by City Clerk Dodge and <br />received congratulations from Mayor Werder. <br />MR. G. L. BEDBURY, who had been re -appointed to the Planning Commission took oath of <br />office administered by City Clerk Dodge and was congratulated by Mayor Werder. <br />CITY MANAGER ROLISON REPORTED ON THE PROPOSED TRAFFIC DIVISION IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. <br />A meeting had been held on Friday, June 25th, by the special Traffic and Safety <br />committee consisting of two members of the City Council, two members of the Traffic <br />r� and Safety Commission, City Attorney Currie, City Engineer Jain, Chief of Police <br />Collins and City Manager Rolison. It was determined that the additional time would <br />be necessary to make studies of the Model Traffic Ordinance, supplied by the League <br />of California Cities, and review other pertinent data concerning the creation of a <br />traffic unit within the Police Department. Lt. Wood had just returned from Washington, <br />D. C., after having completed a special course with the National Academy of the <br />Federal Bureau of Investigation, which included the subject of traffic control, and <br />it was hoped that some important information might be forthcoming from this source. <br />City Manager Rolison hoped to contact other cities that had installed traffic divi- <br />sions, in order to profit from their experience, and asked for an extension of two <br />weeks at which time it was hoped more definite suggestions could be submitted for <br />the Council's consideration.
