1 <br />462 granted, report to be made at the next regular meeting, seconded by Councilman Sv ift, <br />and carried. <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT ON NATIONAL AVENUE. Mr. Currie reported that the matter had been <br />discussed with Mr. Johnson, President of the National Motor Bearing Company, and Mr. <br />Johnson felt that National Avenue should be paved in accordance with the City Manager, <br />the attorney for the National Motor Bearing Company and himself. Lloyd A. Johnson <br />advised City Attorney Currie that the fence would be removed. Mayor Werder appointed <br />Councilmen Britschgi and Granger to act on the committee with City Mananger Rolison <br />and City Attorney Currie. Former Mayor, Harold Anderson was also appointed. Coun- <br />cilman Britschgi was to be the committee chairman. <br />FIRE CHIEF LODI REPORTED THE COST OF STREET LIGHTS FOR LENOLT TRACT AS X2259.95, plus an <br />estimate of $600 for joint pole connections, and stated the work could start immed- <br />iately, except that it would be necessary to get clearance from the Joint Pole <br />Association. Material can be purchased and money is available having been provided <br />by bond funds for these extensions. Councilman Holmquist moved that residents in <br />this area. be given street lights and the electrical department try to get clearance <br />from the P. G. & E., seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. Mr. Pete Dempsey <br />spoke in behalf of those present from Lenolt Tract, expressing appreciation of the <br />Council's decision and their confidence in the Council members. He also added that <br />the Rodeo and Celebration of the 4th was the best he had ever attended and compli- <br />mented the city on this fine exhibition. <br />RE.AOVAL OF TREES ON MIDDLEFIELD ROAD NEAR BROADWAY. Councilman Granger reported that it <br />was the wish of the owners that this be dropped. <br />INCREASE OF GROUP LIFE INSURANCE POLICIS FOR Et-1PLOYES FROU 81000 to P2000. Administrative <br />mid <br />Assistant Dick Miller stated that this was ir;clu d ed in the budget, 9650 having been <br />set aside instead of $315. CoAncilman Morgan moved that the request of the employees <br />to increase this policy be granted, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />FURTHER REPORT ON THE P.G. & E. MA7_14HOLE ON TFIE SIDEWALK ON JEFFERSON AVENUE. A letter <br />from the P.G.& E. Company stated that concrete District Regulator Pit (or vault) <br />with standard sidewalk doors and ornamental pressure gauge box installed on the south <br />side of JEFFERSON AVENUE, East of El Camino Real (in sidewalk area) -- was construc- <br />ted in accordance with City Permit - Approved 10/21/47, located in front of vacant <br />lot owned by Miss Annie Offermann, et al. The letter further stated that Miss <br />Offermann objected to the location of this equipment, but that if and when the <br />property bordering the regulator pit was improved and developed - they would be <br />pleased to review and discuss with the City Officials of Redwood City any desirable 01 <br />changes in order to conform to whatever improvements would be made on the property ••i <br />at that time. Mayor Werder wished to know if Miss Offermann was satisfied. City <br />Manager Robson advised he had not heard further from Miss Offermann. The mayor <br />stated he would object if this were done to his property of commercial value, and <br />04 <br />he personally was not satisfied until he was sure that Miss Offermann had withdrawn <br />her protest. Councilman Morgan moved that the matter be investigated further and <br />placed on the agenda, seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION AGAIN RECOMMENDED THE CHANGE of the following street names stating <br />that adequate notice and hearings had been given and that no pur*pase would be gained <br />by holding more hearings. <br />
