1. Hampton Court & Louisana be changed to Hampton Avenue. 4 63
2. Hams_)ton Way be changed to McNulty tray.
. Hampton Lane be changed to Ryan Lane.
. Halsey be changed to i4cGarvey Avenue.
Mayor 11-Terder asked if anyone wished to be heard on the subject. No one appeared,
however, it was revealed that the last meeting of the Planning Commission on Friday
June 25th, was a study meeting and no further hearings had been held. As persons
from this section had protested the change of street names at the last Council meet-
ing, it was thought a hearing should be duly and regularly continued to July 19th
in fairness to them. Councilman Morgan moved that this be held over on agenda and
that interested parties be notified, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried.
ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS on 537-541 Middlefield Road, and 615 Bradford Street, Benedict C.
Assenza, 734 Menlo Avenue, Menlo Park. City Attorney Currie advised that the owner
wished 60 days instead of the 30 days allowed by the Council for correction to meet
with the compliance of the Health and Welfare Department's recommendation in regard
to the premises at 537-541 Middlefield Road. If allowed this additional time the
owner planned to wreck the building at 615 Bradford Street and remove same. He is
attempting to purchase an additional lot in connection with 537-541 Middlefield Road
to which said building may be removed and properly renovated and repaired. Tenants
at this location were expecting arrival of a child in July or early August and have
no place to move. Due to existing conditions, Councilman Morgan moved that the
extension of time be granted to September 7th, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and
carried.
DISPOSITION OF YACHT HARBOR. City Attorney Currie stated the Council had directed him to
draft a contract but he had not prepared the contract in view of the fact that the
Council had not decided whether Mr. Dolan or Mr. Ma.ckenhausen would handle the
matter. Mayor Werder stated he had no direct report from the Committee, but had
spoken with all members separately, and thought the committee should meet and after
coming to some conclusion to present something concrete to the Council. It was
thought by Councilman Granger that Mr. 14ackenhausen should have first preference
having been employed for ten years and having done a good job. Committee consisted
of one member from the Port Commission, one from the Recreation Commission, one from
the Yacht Club, two or three Councilmen and the City Manager. Preparation of the
contract was discussed with the suggestion by Councilman Morgan that place for the
name be left blank but City Attorney Currie thought the committee would like to
contribute in the preparation of the contract, and make some recommendations. Mayor
r-
Werder stated the committee had not decided whether or not the Yacht Harbor would
remain under the City's jurisdiction, and further that Mr. Dolan had asked that his
name be withdrawn as a candidate for the job. Three members of the Yacht Club will
serve on the committee. Mr. Al Davies was to notify the City Clerk on the following
day, which officers of the Yacht Club would serve on this committee. Councilman
Morgan moved that this be referred back to the committee,.as the Mayor suggested and
a report to be given at the next meeting, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried.
LOUIS NFEISS ASKED FOR A FEV1 MINUTES. Mayor Werder asked that his remarks be confined to
two minutes. Mr. 1,1eiss again referred to Section 15 of the Charter referring to
appropriation or expenditure of public money stating that the Charter should be
amended in his opinion; that Ordinance No. 516 passed three or four years ago did not
provide for expenditure of monies year after year by the Council. City Attorney Currie
